More Red Rhodes questions

Does anyone know what kind of pickup he was using, like I said before, I was told he messed around with pickups all the time. AND, anything else that would help me get that sound of his, which I just love.
Thanks again for any help

Red's tuning

Thank you Rick for taking the time to type that tuning for me. Where did you get this info? Did he ever just use the standard Nashville C6 and E9? I am curious what tuning (s) he used when working with Michael Nesmith which I consider some of the greatest work ever, you really have to sit down and l...

Tuning

Just so I got this right and we are all on the same page, this was a single neck 10 string 4 pedal. No wonder I have such a hard time figuring out his songs. I'm a real Nez/Red fan from the 70's. Grew up in Orange County CA, so I got to see them a lot at Disneyland and Knotts Berrie Farm (the old Jo...

Tuning

Does anyone out there know Red Rhodes steel guitar tuning? On the Mike Nesmith DVD Live at the Britt, Red was playing a 10 string, 4 pedal guitar. I have no doubt he had played around with tunings.
Anyone??!?

Blackie Taylor Jam and Surpise Party

I was asked by Blackie's wife Lola to post this: Blackie's family is throwing him a SURPRISE birthday party on May 22 at Billy B's in Riverside. It will be a Jam Session and I am inviting family, friends, musicians and students to join in. It is just a fun time and you are invited to bring your inst...

Howard Stern (it figures) got onto these recordings last year (or the year before), finally tracked the guy down and interviewd him. It's a real guy, still doing his music and makes no apolgys. Despite the content, it is really well made and played tunes ---- For what it's worth.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR=&...

Gene, Reggie well put. Albeit I never met Al, I do feel like I know him. My teacher, Blackie Taylor, was once a student of Al, long long ago. The stories I have heard. Does make you sad and I too hope it is resolved soon, somehow.

Had to drop in here for what it's worth. I started out with 2 Nashville 400's and never was really happy with the sound. Finally bought a Evans SE 150 and, albeit it is a little weak in the reverb department, it is fixed with a Boss GX 700 in my rack. Bottom line is I play the Evans and keep one Nas...

Yeah, what Bob said. I have played with guys who have had them, messed around with one myself in the mid '80's for a short time. They are rather large and heavy, if I remember right, another piece to haul around. A stomp box or like an MPX 100 would be a better deal.

I was going to add my 2 cents about Brooks high fiveing 2 Takamine's on stage, but what's the point when he's not doing it anymore. It made me mad cuz at the time I would have given my left n-t to have one of those. Who was it that wrote the song "Who do they think they are, smashing a perfectl...

Both of my GFI's seen to stay in tune very well. I leave Temecula, drive 50 miles to Blackie Taylor Music in Riverside for my lesson and it is still in tolerable tune. At a gig, in doors, after the first song or 2, I'll check and tweek a little if needed. Darn GFI, KEYLESS I forgot to mention, seem ...

I had a DTR2 at first, took it back and got a DTR1. The reason is I could tune my other guitars on stage EZ. I am now setting up a back up rack, that one will live with a DTR1, unless someone gives me the other. The feature on the more expesive one are good and useful if you are a working musician, ...

My Just-in -Case arrived today---GREAT!!

My case showed up today, I tracked it all the way with the UPS number Gary thoughtfully supplied. It was everything I expected and THEN some to be honest about it. I will be using this one for a long time, I have no doubt. To try and put this SCAM deal to rest, yeah, it took longer than I expected, ...

My case came today, a little late but worth it. It is everything Gary advertised and I could not be happier. Yeah, it was a little late in coming, but worth it. I am sorry you had a bad experiance RPeterson, really I am, don't know how to explain it, but my case is wonderful. Thank you Gary. Steve
