I’m close enough to El Paso, to go pick it up, just need $17,950 and two tanks of gas for the round trip.

Seriously I would love to have this Bigsby, but just stuck a bunch of money into an old Martin guitar.

A '58 Fender 400 that's been setup to be a player and looks like it's been played half to death, so it still has another 60 years left on it.

Re: Where were you playing fifty years ago? (old picker sub

I was just looking at some of my old papers and trying to trace my music history and thought it'd be nice to see where some of the older pickers were playing a half century or so ago and also if you remember, who you were playing with..... About this time in 1966 I was holding forth on lead guitar ...

I think with Wagon Wheel, it's kind of become the hippie national anthem at every drum circle and backwoods jam session. It gets played every night and goes on forever!!!!!! I walked through the camp grounds at a big jamband festival last summer and heard "WW" played 15 times while just tr...

Just out of curiosity, does someone like Weird Al Yankovic who makes a living out of writing parody songs have to pay royalties until the end of time to the original composer? Al gets permission from the original artist, and writers, of the songs he does and list the original writers on all credits...

I've watched the scene a few times, and from what I can tell it's a standard base model 0-16. You can buy those for $1500 if you look around, or pay top dollar for one in good shape for about $3500. I don't get Martin saying that it was priceless, unless it was owned by someone famous and they can p...

Although Fender made many (over 50!) changes in the design of their cable guitars, only a few addressed the major deficiencies they had in competing with other brands. By the time they rolled out their famous fizzle, the PS-210, it was just another tale of "too little, too late". The PS-2...

After Great White caught a club on fire, in 2003 that killed 100 people, many of the gigs I've been doing have started asking that the bands, and audio and lighting engineers, carry liability insurance. There were a handful of casinos that require it, and County Fair grounds and most State Parks. Wh...

Some songs are sacred and need to be respected. Didn't care for the NY reference either. Pete Wernick is originally from NY and the festival they are playing at, in the video, is in New York, that was the NY reference. One amazing thing about that show is the just a year earlier, while flying to th...

I always like the whole step down modulation, not many do it. Conway Twitty, who appeared to modulate more than most, had a song called "I'd Love To Lay You Down". He went from the key of D down to C then to Bb. Always thought it was effective in that song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

I never could get used to the curved back... Martin making out of USA guitars, Taylor making out of USA guitars, Fender making out of USA guitars, Gibson etc... It's a hard market to compete in. The difference between Ovation and the four companies mentioned above is that all four of the higher-pri...

The plan is, for now, that the cheaper Asian-built guitars will still be produced. I guess the big question was on the fairly expensive New Hartford built Ovations. If one is going to spend some fairly big dough on a new acoustic guitar these days with the plethora of choices including the big thre...

The drummer replied, "Nobody asked you". Time to bail on that situation. His response is too hostile and it will only get worse. In situations where it is possible to reason with said band/owner, arm yourself with a sound level meter. Amazon has them for less than $20. Show them how loud ...

Ken, I seem to remember Paul saying he has a change that moves the G# (3rd string) up to a B, and another change that drops it to an E. So using the combination of those two changes he can move a note down a 3 1/2 steps, a fifth.

a claim that Hank, not Faron Young, wrote "Goin' Steady." Apparently, Faron won out. Maybe Cal Sharp can add some insight here.. The story I always heard was Hank wrote it and offered it to Faron, if Faron would let Hank go out on a date with Faron's girlfriend Billie Jean Jones. That end...
