1957 Bigsby T8 with Pedals for Sale

Post by Shane Georges »

The Good:

I have for sale a very clean one owner 1957 Bigsby T8 w/ pedals. My grandfather purchased the Bigsby in 1957 and was the sole owner for the duration of his life until he passed away at the beginning of 2022. He mostly played during his free time but I don't think that he ever played "gigs" or anything like that to the best of my knowledge. While he never pursued music professionally, he was a very skilled self-taught guitarist who could figure just about any tune if he listened to it (and wanted to actually play it). This Bigsby never saw the road so it is in very well-preserved condition. More importantly, my grandfather never made any modifications to the original purchase. The Hise hand changer stamped "Bigsby Special" was not a later addition but one that Bigsby offered and seems to be fairly unique as I don't think many people took the option.

Guitar Condition: Hard to beat for it's age... Very well taken care of... comes with Bigsby volume pedal and some accessories.

Case Condition: Some wear but apparently also made by Paul Bigsby

The Bad:

I am asking $18,000.

The Ugly:

I do not really want to ship this beautiful piece of history. It would be much better for both parties, I believe, if this transaction took place face to face. I am located in El Paso, Texas. It is a pretty penny and I want you to be absolutely happy with your purchase. That is the ideal transaction. But if someone really wants it and lives super far away, I understand that this might not be too practical. Therefore, I will give the option of a buyer using a third party shipper. They will be responsible for the packing and shipping of the instrument as I am worried that I wouldn't do an adequate job of it. But if the buyer uses this option, I will not be liable for the instrument once it is in the shipper's hands.

Any Questions, please ask and I will try to the best of my ability to answer them. Many Thanks

Beautiful. Can't imagine someone here not buying it.

Either as a player or an investment, anything from Paul Bigsby is a piece of history!

They don't come more "under-the-bed" than that one! One of the cleanest originals I've seen. Yeah, WOW!
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Someone should really reach out to Jeremy Wakefield and/or Lee Jeffries on this one!

Shane are you able to tell us what tunings and copedants the guitar is set up for? It looks like the lower two necks have two pedals each and each pedal pulls one string. Both pedals on each neck pull adjacent strings (split pedal Isaacs?). The first pedal is not connected to anything.

I think the first pedal is a plunger on the second string, middle neck. Not sure if it is a raise or lower?

I’m close enough to El Paso, to go pick it up, just need $17,950 and two tanks of gas for the round trip.

Seriously I would love to have this Bigsby, but just stuck a bunch of money into an old Martin guitar.
