I still prefer an amp with speakers but with most of the money gigs using in ears a full amp is not needed. They're really going overboard with the in ear monitors these days. I saw a guy singing on SNL with just two musicians, piano and violin. He was standing in between them and all 3 had those g...

Who's The Steeler

Was flipping channels this AM and saw this on the Hoda & Jenna show on NBC. Sorry about the quality of the picture but the steeler was playing a GFI...just wondering if any of you know the player. He really did a great job.

Glad to hear you are doing better and are able to move close to family. I was born and raised in Birmingham and at times I miss the Alabama I was raised in. A lot of the folks that live there miss those places. They do not exist anymore. A lot of fantastic steel guitar players were from Alabama. Ju...

Gary, that sounds like a great move to me, and please accept my best wishes for your recovery & continued good health. If you have any "pearls of wisdom" for us gospel-loving steel players, I would be so appreciative to hear them! You must have had so many good times playing with a gr...

Time to move on...Alabama

Having lived in western North Carolina for 40+ years it's time to head to my home state of Alabama. I moved to NC in 1974 right out of high school and begin an 18 yr run of playing steel with the Kingsmen (gospel group.) Never having any health issues last August (2018) hit hard when doctors informe...

4th pedal changes

If this has been discussed please direct me to a link.

Other than the "Franklin drop" what other changes do you or would you use the 4th pedal for E9th? If you do.

Played through a MM many years ago, I liked it, but just didn't have the tone, etc I really wanted. Pawn shop? If they are asking $400 for it they probably paid $150. Lay $300 CASH on the counter and see what happens.

Jim, we had this issue often when I was in southern gospel music. It was usually up to the promoter booking us. It varied. The most common was 120 miles or a 2 hr drive within a month (sometime 2 month) period of their show. Our booking agent didn't have it in our contract that was sent to the promo...

Sorry, I don't have a video but I absolutely love this amp. Lots of power. Love the built in delay (I don't use the chorus).

I tried several (I will not say which one's) and I decided on this one. I am very very pleased with it.

Great friend and singer,

He loved the steel guitar as much as Vince Gill. Every time I picked he would be in the wing of the stage just staring at me while playing and listening to every note and always encouraging me in everything I did.

To the best of my knowledge those backing-plates were an after-market part. Well, maybe, because I got mine from Jim Aycoth at the 2002 ISGC. It was certainly not a standard fitting but an 'extra'. Then one day I saw some in Bobbe Seymour's shop. He told me he'd had them made on his own initiative....

Barry,
don't know the answer to your question but my 76 P/P had a raised logo and I purchased it new from Emmons. I'm guessing probably the late 60's-early 70's. I'm sure there are others on here that can tell you more in detail.

Well found an incredible deal on this showroom Legrande II (locally). Just needs some knee lever changes. My gosh this guitar plays smooooth! I f...
