Wish I had a dang D-10!
If only there was a C-6 neck on this Encore of mine! My son is into Jazz, and his comment was, "I never knew they could do stuff like this on a steel guitar."

Great Song!
William,
A real tear-jerker that I would looove to learn to play! Had never heard this before, but that's not surprising for the many years I spent playing Rock & Roll.

Trial Tab – “Swinging Doors†- Intro in F
Guys, Another attempt at a creating a tab… one of my favorite intros. Every time I look at this thing, I find another error or something else to tweak, but it ought to be pretty close to the recording. As always, I’m pretty new to this, but am looking for advice and corrections. I have to say th...

I have only been playing for a couple of months. Using tabs has been very instructive in showing me how basic, but very important, things are done. For example, in the “Swinging Doors†intro, you start really high with open pedals on the 15th fret, then go down to the 10th fret with AB down, but...

Trial Tab – “Slide Off of Your Satin Sheets†- B Flat
If some of you guys with more experience than I have could test drive this tab and offer comments, advice, criticisms, etc., I would greatly appreciate it. The tab is for the three measures following the first verse’s lyrics… “Splendor, Lord, you’ve got it wall to wall.†The lick is at 0:2...

Encore vs. Justice S-10
I have one of Bruce Earnest's Encores, and couldn't be happier. Although I am a VERY new player, the one advantage that the Encore might have is the 5th left knee (up) lever which, off of an open position Emaj, gives you a nice F#7th/9th. In looking at the Justice S-10 on their website, I don't see ...

First Tab - Intro - Whiskey Bent & Hell Bound
Not really MY tab, but pulled from Johnny Up's description in his YouTube video. Does this seem close to the mark? Hope the bar lines and note values aren't a distraction, but it's hard for me to attempt something like this without them. BTW, what do you guys use for an "up-knee" lever? &q...

How do I keep those dang Dunlop metal finger picks on!?!?
The MOST frustrating thing about starting out has been that the metal picks I am using for the index/middle fingers keep flipping off (sorry for the pun). In some desperation, I tried one-inch blue painter's tape around the fingers first. Seems to work like a charm, but then it takes several minutes...

I'll get 'em for you when the guitar arrives, and you can count on that. There is one from somewhere else on the forum that is just like mine except that it has a Franklin pedal, but I wouldn't want to pirate that.

Just Ordered a Blue/Black ZumSteel Encore from Doug Earnest
Just pulled the trigger on this guitar today. Saw a picture of one of these on the Forum here. Will be difficult to wait until next June, but that's what I get for not ordering it earlier, right?!? In the meantime I'd like to find someone near Raleigh, NC that I can pay for lessons on their instrume...

Will pay for a good tab of Slide Off of Your Satin Sheets
This is my first post on the forum. Will be ordering a steel soon, and would really like to use this song by Johnny Paycheck as a learning tool. I want most of what can be gotten off of the record, I suppose. I can supply a piece of a piece of a tab for the “slithering,†as it is called, that co...
