I always enjoy the Marty Stuart show every week. It is without a doubt, one of the most inspiring country music shows on television today. In addition to the outstanding music and arrangements, I also thoroughly enjoy the memorabilia, as well as the vintage instruments being played, like Clarance Wh...

Dan,
I will be performing with my band in Manhattan, Ks. on 2-16 so it looks like you will already be gone. But, if you get delayed and are still in the area that Saturday, feel free to come out and say hello. We will be at the American Legion Hall in Manhattan, Ks.

I had the opportunity to perform with Hank on three seperate shows. One of the nicest guys to work for. One of the biggest things I admired about him was his people skills. He always treats everyone like they are his closest friends. I remember seeing peoples faces light up when he would pull them c...

I think any effect can be overused and make almost any instrument sound terrible. Too much of any effect could be a very bad thing in my opinion. One example that comes to mind was with a steel player I heard playing "together again" with a band. His steel had so much chorus and reverb on,...

Bill, The setup I use is pretty easy. I purchased an inexpensive DVD recorder from Wal-Mart and simply plugged my VCR directly into it. The instructions with the box should show you how to hook it up. My DVD recorder came with the connection cables and everything. I can watch the video on my televis...

Josh, I dont know how new of guitar you were looking for, but I have a 1997 USA made LoneStar Strat. It is black with a pearly pickguard that I have been thinking about selling for a while. The lonestar strat has one seymour duncan humbucker pickup. I still have the papers with it and the original F...

My vote would be with Norm Hamlett or Bud Carter. I could actually name quite a few that need to be in there.

John,
The shift knob on the NV1000 and other amps basically changes the frequency range of the amp. I'm sure there are others out there that can explain it a lot better than me, but just like with any electronic device, changing the frequency does have an effect on the tone.

My settings on my NV1000 are usually in this area. LOW +9 , MID -6 , Shift 800hz, High +6, Presence +6, Reverb 4. Of course these settings change depending on the kind of room I am playing in and which guitar I am playing. I found the following information on this website: http://danny.hullihen.trip...

There are so may great steel songs by so many different steel players I love, but for an entire album I would have to go with Tom Brumley on the Buck Owens live at Carnegie Hall Concert album or Lloyd Green on Charlie Pride's Live at Panther Hall album.

When I was first starting it was very slow going, but after I found some tablature of a few simple songs on the net, my playing took off from there. I started picking up techniques from listening to records of Tom Brumley and Ralph Mooney and playing along with the tablature. I didnt stop until what...

I know almost everyone can usually get a great sound from whatever amp they have, but I have always been a huge fan of simplicity. I currently play a Nashville 1000 on the road for several reasons. I love the fact that I have plenty of power at my fingertips if I ever need it. I also enjoy the fact ...

I bought a late 40's Gibson Electraharp when I first started playing steel about 7 years ago. It was a birds eye maple with 4 pedals. I still have it sitting up in my studio, but dont play it any more. Its certainly a beautiful instrument though!!
