I know what y'all mean about overlap. I have a '75 Pro III square body with wide pedals. I also have a '74 Pro III round body, with wide pedals. I've been playing wide pedals for so long it feels alien to play narrow pedals.

I have a '65 Standel Imperial XII speaker cabinet with a pair of JBL's that I play though at home.Unfortunately I don't have the amp head. I use it with eather a Peavey XR 680 PA head or a Sunn 200S. I found it in the basement of the music store I used to manage that back in the day, was a Standel d...

I've been using the NYXL guitar strings for about the last year. I find that they do hold up longer than normal strings. I want to try the pedal steel version. When I first heard about them I thought that they would be a great pedal steel string, because of their resistance to breakage.

PM Sam Marshall. He works in the amp design department at Fender. He's a member here and a pedal steel player. He would know.

I can't wait to try the NYXL's! I got a beta test set of the 6 string version of them a few years back. They do hold up, breakage wise, better that any other string brand that I've used. And they sound great. I've wondered when they were going to do a pedal steel version. Now I know!

Erv: Yes, Sho-Bud made them as an one-off deal for Fender. There were 4400 guitars made. From what I´ve learned the Sho-Bud Super Pro actually was a result from building these guitars. They were made after the Fender deal was completed. Ted: That´s also a really great looking guitar! Where did yo...

I had one for my first pedal steel. The late Ed Naylor set it up with 4 knee levers. It was one of the best sounding steels I've ever heard.

I think this might be what you're looking for. http://www.lollarguitars.com/jason-lollar/winder-book It might be a little pricey, but Jason Lollar is one of the foremost pickup builders. I have a former guitar student who bought this book, and the pickups she builds are as good as anything I have ev...

I've never had the opportunity to watch the show, but I know that Gary Carter plays in Connie's road band, The Sundowners. I remember one time at a steel show, I heard this fantastic playing coming from a dealer's display. I walked over to check it out. It was Mike Sigler, playing a Maverick! It's NOT the tools but the crafts person operating the tools. I started on a Fender/Sho-Bud Student 10. Fortunately I found someo...

I know that Reese Anderson made the Phil Baugh guitars but seems to me that Dekley also tried to build one of those and had a prototype at a Summer NAMM in the mid to late 80's. I would try the Boss Tone first. A lot of distortion circuits (Fuzz Face, etc) don't work well with a buffered signal.

That is a R-C (resistor capacitor) high pass circuit that rolls the normally bass heavy Gibson pickup tone off and and gives it a brighter, more treble tone.

I think the D & H logo at the top stands for Davitt and Hanser. They have been a musical instrument and accessory dealer since 1924. This guitar looks older than the 60s. Very possible. up until around 2000, D&H's low line acoustic guitar line was labeled Dixon. I sold a lot of those Dixon ...

A good singer who interprets a song and its lyrics is a pure pleasure to play behind. We are there to serve the song in the most expressive way we can. How can you do that if you're unaware of the song's meaning? Having said that, I've been stuck behind vocalists who have little or no notion of wha...

VERY cool pictures. From a time gone by. Are those a couple of Fender Super Sixes? That'll wake someone up. Mike, I think that is one of the amps Waylon had made. They were essentially a Silver Face Twin-Reverb chassis in a cabinet that had 8 D 110F JBL's. Waylon had two of those built for stage us...

I had one of those guitars back in the mid 90's. At a guitar show, I traded George Gruhn a Gretsch Double Anniversary guitar that needed a LOT of work for mine. I had $125 in the guitar. Later the late Ed Naylor set it up with 4 knee levers for $200. I LOVED THAT GUITAR!!! About 2 years later, I tra...
