Time Jumpers & The Station Inn

Okay, I've lived in the Nashville are for just over a year now and I should be horse whipped for not making it down to The Station Inn to see the Time Jumpers until last Monday night. I've never seen a slicker display of muscial abilities. Three fiddles in harmony and in sync like you wouldn't belie...

Bobby Flores

I'm sure this is old news to you guys, but I was just on Yellow Rose's site and listen to a sample cut of "I Didn't Realize" on Bobby's newest release. This has always been one of my favorite Wills tunes and this version KILLS me! If you haven't heard it give it a listen.

Back when I was a younger(circa 1982)my band mates and I were going to see Son at the University of Arkansas. We were big into the blues so we went to the local BBQ establishment to get into the right vibe and Son walks in shortly after us to load up too. I got him to sign a paper napkin for me. I w...

You know its not just country music the pop stuff is so bad (to me) that I want to scream. Another thing I find interesting is the former "Pop Stars" that get play on CMT and GAC alla Bruce Springsteen, Sherly Crow, Michelle Branch et al. If it has any kind of melody, even a bad one, that'...

Well I just put Kinman pickups in my 62RI from the early 80s. Plenty of bite in the bridge plus real smooth neck pickup. The best thing about them is they're totally quiet. Really, no hum no buzz. They're expensive but they work.

I jammed with a fella named James Murray last year before I moved to Mt Juliet. Check www.onlinesteelers.com under Tennessee and you might find some more. I found James through a friend of his Jerry Lucas he's a bass player but he is listed on the above site. Good luck!

Blackface Fender Twin

I guy I know in Murfreesboro TN has a blackface fender twin he'd like to sell. He'd like for it to go to someone who'll use it and not just a collector. He also doesn't want to ship so it'd have to be someone who can pick it up. It appears to be in good shape. All original except for 1 speaker which...

I lived in Memphis for 17 years (just recently moved to Mt Juliet, TN) and the only steel playing I know of is a 1st Saturday of the month Jam at the Old IH Union hall in Frasyer, a feller named Cowboy (played with Hank, Jr) that plays at Hernando's Hideaway or Bad Bob's if either are still open and...

B & D at Cains Ballroom

I'm watching Brook & Dunn live from Cains Ballroom on CMT and they just played a very traditional sounding tune complete with a steel solo and fiddle fills. Anyone know who the steel player is? The tune I'm guessing is called "If That's The Way You want It"

I've been lusting after an Allen Brown Sugar amp for some time now. Everything I've read on them gives them high marks. It is a little expensive though. You should be able to check them out at their website.

I'll give up my tele when they pry it from my cold dead fingers. You know what I noticed the other day is the fiddle has relaced some of the rock style guitar solos. Now I'm not talking about country fiddling I mean a minor pentatonic guitar type solo played on the fiddle.

Whether you like Martina or not (and I do) when ever I've seen her she always says, as she introduces the steel player, you can't have a country band with out a steel. Amen!
