Gretsch square neck strings
I recently bought a new g9230 resonator. It included the Fishman Nashville ceramic piezo pickup installed with a spider cone. I don't know what the factory strings are but am not happy with the unplugged sound. Low volume and muffled, poor sustain. Have not yet tried it with an amp. I have no experi...

Robbie---please post the string spacing. Especially at the bridge. The scale length also. You would likely have a quicker sale if the questions were resolved. Thx.

Request info about a vintage pup
My first two lap steels were a Kalamazoo and an Epiphone Electar. Both were six string models. The Kalamazoo was purchased new about 1948 while the Epiphone was purchased new about 1962. Both had a clear, pleasant, but not particularly noteworthy sound through a small (maybe ten watt) tube amp. For ...

I;m pretty certain the guitar with the pickup in question was a Kalamazoo. There is currently one on eBay that looks like it. Going rather cheap - aprox $120 with a couple days to go. Found a few other hits on Google but nothing specific about the pickup or this style of coil winding. The coil was m...

pickup coil orientation
On all the pickups I've seen the last several years, the coils are laid on the long axis of the bobbin. That puts them at right angle to the strings. On one of my first guitars in the mid forties (either a Kalamazoo or Epiphone Electar), the coils were wound around the SHORT axis. That put them Para...

Need factory patch values
Hi all, Had a rp100 and really liked some of the original patches but the thing suddenly refused to turn on anymore. Bought another rp100 but nearly all the channels seem to produce some amount of "fuzz". Got a rp150 but the patches on it do not resemble the ones I liked on the first rp100...

need amp repair in central ohio
I have a couple old tube amps. One, a Crate CR30(I believe) has a lot of pops and whistles. The other is a no-name 5 or 10 watter probably purchased from Sears in late 40's with my first guitar - a Kalamazoo. It just kinda fluttered and died. I'm in Marengo, Ohio and would appreciate repair contacts...

I'm still runnung Win98SE but couple things come to mind. 1. drive cache. I use Wintune - one of its diagnostics reports cached/uncached drive performance. 2. 'compatability mode'. Maybe you've got some kind of driver problem. With 98 you'd go to control panel/system and open the Performance tab. XP...

Thanks Ray-- The machine is still 100 miles away. It was, at least, usable and he needed it. His old machine used the large round mouse connecter, not PS2 so it won't work with the new box. Since all was well when testing prior to delivery, I had not taken any of my stuff. Thus, no other mice at his...

Just finished assembling a computer for a friend. Win98SE with all updates, MSIE and Outlook Express versions 6, plenty of Ram and disk space, Logitec optical mouse, only a few standard app's. No problems when tested at home. Took the machine to my friend (100 mile trip) and fired it up. The mouse c...

Few people have a doo-wah or bar-crash better than what Forumite JODY CARVER displays on his HCOA reissue CD. Buy one and check out Caravan, Idaho, Limehouse Blues, and more. Harmonics that make you shiver, too. I believe he uses an Epiphone or Fender volume/tone pedal. Jody is pretty tied up right ...

It seems there were some difficulties at the ISGC that may have prevented Jody from displaying all of his fantastic talent. I *KNOW* how good this man was AND IS. MY GUARANTEE STILL HOLDS!!! HCOA-my PERSONAL guarantee
Hi folks--After hearing this incredible music for the first time (a few years ago), I recorded to a CD. A friend "borrowed" that copy and refused to return it until it would no longer play. Never knew you could wear out a CD but that one had been listened to so often that it was, indeed, w...

Paul-- Gary and Jim have, basically, been telling you right. First, though, let's make sure the desktop icon is the actual folder and not a shortcut: RIGHT-click the icon and then LEFT-click 'properties' on the resultant window. If the properties window does NOT have a 'shortcut' tab, fine. Otherwis...
