looking for an old friend

Does anyone know, or know the whereabouts, of 2 steelers I knew from the 50's? The names are: #1- Johnny Cambra , of Oakland, CA at that time, and > #2- Richie Dell , of Colorado, Texas, New Mexico in the 50's > Thank you

If you send Jerry a card, be sure to enclose some stamps.....just think of ALL the letters, notes, etc. he writes in response to the mail he gets.....so include some stamps with your card.

Oahu EZ series music

Trying to find the Oahu EZ series (diagram) music for an elderly friend who used to teach from it. Xerox copies of just the songs from about 20 EZ thru 40 EZ would be great. Anyone know where I might find this???? Thanx.

Carl: Starting on the 7th stg., 3rd fret, then 6th stg. then 5th stg (all at 3rd fret) gives you the first 3 notes of Remington. Then Pedal 6 (raise 4th, lower 8th) down, go to second fret, do your pull offs and you're there. (after the pull-offs, you're back to the 3rd fret) until you get to the pa...

With the 6 pedal down, you do it at the second fret EXACTLY like you did it (in D) in Cth. The rest of the song (first part) is at the 3rd fret same as you used to do it in C6. That pull-off is the only part at the 2nd fret. You also do the next pull off (6 pedal down) at the first fret, but the res...

I play Remington Ride on my U-12 and: use the pedal (6) that raises the 4th and lowers the 8th stg. Play it just like you used to in C6h except you're in D at the 3rd fret. Works great!

I certainly agree with ALL of the above. Roy Wiggins was the first steel guitar I ever heard, somewhere in the 40's.....and I didn't have ANY idea what made that sound. From then on, all you had to hear of a "new" record coming out was the first 2 notes of the record and you KNEW it was Ro...

Besides the discography, it is a VERY interesting history of/by one of the most revered pioneers of country steel guitar. He was an inspiration to everyone from Buddy Emmons to the steelers of today. Get a copy...you won't be sorry to have it in your "library".

I read once where Jerry said this was one of his all time favorites back in the days he was in Nashville. He (as always) puts his heart in his music and you can sure tell it on this one too.

Been a JB fan over 50 years and can hardly wait to read this. Are there ANY other steel autobiographies out there? by any of the other well known steelers? Can't think of any offhand.
