I have the half-stop mechanism on my G2 and I like it. No issues at all. However I have seen a discussion on this forum where some people notice a slight warble when throwing right through from D# to C#. Someone mentioned that they found it noticeable when recording. It seems like a very minor thing...

I went and listened to "Here comes my Baby Back Again"; as Connie is one of my all time favorite Woman Country Singers. But I'm sorry Craig that is NOT "Real Country Music". That particular cut may have quite a bit of orchestration in it Ricky, but overall the album has plenty o...

Not the least expensive solution but get yourself a pair of Landis Death Grip picks. They stay on better than anything else I've tried in over 30 years. To me they're worth the money.

I think this is the issue that comes up most often with beginning steel players...the finger picks. But remember that probably 95% of us have addressed, and eventually conquered the same obstacle. Steel players who play without fingerpicks are very rare indeed. As has been stated many times, practic...

Per said It is easily the ugliest amp on the market Haha!! I don't find mine ugly Per. In fact it looks pretty cool with the illuminated control panel. Mine does have the black and white faceplate and not the more gawdy multi-colored version...not fussy about those. Some find the speaker grill ugly ...

Well that seals it then. Thanks to all for the effort in resolving this mystery. I confess I hadn't heard of Robbie Primm but he'll be on my radar now. It's a shame that Glen Shelby isn't around to enjoy the attention...great album.

What about Milo Deering? He's in Texas and although I've not heard him play that style exactly, he certainly seems able to play anything he takes a notion to.
I'm sorry to hear Mr Shelby has left us and I'm grateful to have found this legacy of his talent.

It reminds me very much of some of Sarah Jory's steel antics too, but I kind of doubt she's been doing studio sessions in Austin.

Apart from album cuts on Youtube I haven't even turned up anything on Glen Shelby much less the musicians who played on the project. The album art has a silhouette of the state of Texas so that must be where the project was recorded. I like it.

Who is the the steeler on this Glen Shelby song?

I found this and some other Glen Shelby cuts on YouTube. Great stuff and great playing all around. I hadn't heard of Glen Shelby before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSshU2sF5C4

Andy Bast, the singer, is not actually part of the band, he's a guest. I've often heard him but I didn't know he could pick a tele like that. The house band just kills...always. As an aside, check this out if you want to see just how versatile that guy on keyboard and fiddle is. https://www.youtube....

Sylvain is a pretty darn passable Mandolin player as well, and I'm sure many other instruments. Charlie, at least three of them in that video are multi-instrumentalists. Besides steel I've seen Sylvain play dobro, mando and six string. Jean-Guy plays steel, six string, bass and banjo...and no doubt...

Above and Beyond --great rendition

Some pretty neat playing on this version of Above and Beyond. The steeler is Sylvain Pouliot, and Jean-Guy Grenier is on six string lead but as many of you know he is also a world class steel player. These guys amaze me with their talent...the whole band does. I don't think this show is on anymore w...

Tommy was completely honest, Bill - he told you he lies a lot! Well there you go Jeff! One thing I know is that Tommy COULD have played it even if Jim stepped up that time. I said once that pedal steel must be part of the school curriculum in Texas, judging by the number of amazing players there. B...

Yes, so do I. It seemed like a chunk of cash for fingerpicks and my main reason for ordering was for the 'death-grip' feature which works extremely well. But there is an improvement in tone that is equally impressive.

Buddy is the only player listed on Gene's "From the Heart" album. Check it out. It's great. Richard, I just checked for that album on iTunes but it isn't there unfortunately. The Canadian version of iTunes has a scaled down selection of music. The album I did buy is the 22 Hits one and I'...
