oil

Tom Baker at Sierra recommended HOPPE'S No. 9 Lubricating Oil. Clean the grease off. 1) While you have the tuner apart, you might smooth up the surfaces that the thumb screws impact. 2) Twice, I have surfaced (with a file) the surfaces where the Socket-headed cap screws tighten down the strings. The...

New Excel 12-string

I just bought a PSG from Fuzzy Steel Guitar Company, a Suberb 12 string universal. I've only had it for 1 day, but the tone is fabulous; the pedals and levers work super easy and feel very solid. I like the keyless tuner. Easy to re-tension which on my Sierra is not so easy. It felt a little weird s...

Great steel

These are fantastic steels, I would buy it, but, alas the only problem with these is the weight.
But the beauty is the weight, if you're young and strong. The mass gives great tone and sustain. Built so well, they last a long time. This one looks pristine.

Looking for Sierra pull rod

I only need 1 Sierra pull rod 7 3/4" long. Either the 3/32" or the 1/8" diameter. It should be the shortest one.
I am trying the forum first rather than Sierra hoping to find someone with extra parts to sell.
Thanks, Alan Ames

Need pickup for 10-string dobro

I have 10 string dobro with 11/16" clearance under the strings. I need a pick-up less than 5/8" thick.

Zirconia bar

I love my zirconia bar. Wish it was as big as my Dunlop, but it is the size most people want.
Here is where I got mine:

I have a 10-string OMI Dobro.

Boy, do I love mine. As a dobro player who took to pedal steel later in life, this is mega fun! The tone is super sweet. I think it is the large massive neck.

National case

My 10 string fits in a case just like the National guitars fit in. My style O, and my baritone tricone, and 10-string all are the same case.

I have a 1986, 10-string dobro.

And I love it. It has a sweet tone; I think, because of the massive neck. I use a modified C6 (has a high strings D and F) Which means it is a C6/F6. Makes it hard to be satisfied with a 8-string now. Darn!

Ukes 4 sale

My wife needs a Ukulele. But some questions:
What is a S0 or S1?
Are these both soprano or concert?
What kind of wood are they?
Would they be shipped from Florida? Where in FL? (We're in Saint Louis)

Zirconia is IT!

I love my solid zirconia. I cannot scratch it. I have even dropped it on concrete (Not good. It could shatter) It cost $150, but what do guitars, amps, and mikes cost? I weighs slighty less than steel, but it has plenty of mass. Sounds great, plus no scratchy sound. I can't remember who I purchased ...

I meant that you need to dampen the strings with your hand, behind you steel (bar) because of the natural resonance of the string length from the bar to the nut (if you don't dampen it) ON a Dobro, is is very noticable; on a pedal or lap steel, it is not very noticable til you turn down the amp, or ...

It could be the length of string on the back side of the bar is ringing. Do make sure you dampen the strings on the back side of the steel, because that length of string from your bar back to the nut is vibrating unless you dampen it.

They usually sound really good, but look very carefully for defects and make an agreement with the store clerk about returning it if it is defective. Marrs lap steel sound/tone questions

Does anyone have knowledge of sound clips on the internet of the Mars Reso Simulator Lap Steel? I am referring to the "cat can" lap steel. I don't need it to sound exactly like my Dobro or Scheerhorn, but I sure would like to have a no-feeback lap steel that had some acoustic growl to it, ...
