You Tube Steel

I was wondering if there was anyone net savy enough to provide a link to all steel playing on you tube.
I have a lot on my "playlist" there, laboriously collected by putting "steel guitar" in the search box.
Just looking for a more comprehensive collection.

Practice and iPODS

Those iPODS have been the best thing that ever happened to me musically. Before the iPOD, I always spent so much time finding the tape or CD, then finding the song in the tape, then rewinding it to practice it over and over. Now, I get 3 times more practice in for any given time period. It has reall...

Donny

The lead guitar player in my band can do that, name every chord and the notes no matter how complex. And the music stops if anyone's tuning is off by more than 3 cents. Can't get anything past him... I think some people hear in color and others in black and white. For instance, if someone plays a ch...

The reason I ask,is think about someone like Barbra Mandrell

Correct me if I am wrong, but couldn't she play essentially everthing by about age 10. I saw a picture of her once playing a 4 board steel! And she couldn't have been 7 years old. Now if that girl had any kind of childhood at all apart from music, like going to school, and playing with her friends, ...

Can someone sit down with the fiddle or PSG and

play it fairly well the first time they try?
Has anyone ever heard of this with either instrument?

Heart of Gold

This is a nice song to start with.
Almost everything is just simple chord back up.
However the refrain after "heart of gold" is smiply done by rocking on the A pedal in Em and sounds awesome!

back up

Actually Rich I have very few breaks of the string. It is just that i really, really hate to restring them. The anxiety I get as i tighten up a new string to such high impossibly high tensions just drives me nuts as i expect it to snap at any moment. I do know a brilliant MIdWest player who tunes to...

back up

Definitely agree with that, Donny. I am trying to learn it the right way for sure. But I do hear steelers backing up a song they are not too familiar with by use of rolls. It seems like they often hit the first, fith and then the higher fifth repeatedly as back up. It sounds great- i think my syncop...

Back Up

Good idea, Greg. WIll try that. I think part of the problem is that I don't have the same feel for syncopation on the PSG that I have on the banjo. Are there some examples someone could post. And frankly, one other problem, is that the way the strings are tuned on the PSG has never to me had any inh...

Need some advice on Back-Up

I did buy the Jeffran course on back up and it was very helpful. What I can't seem to find are some dependable rolls I can always count on for fill. On the banjo there are 8 note rolls (forward rolls, backward rolls, forward-backward rolls, etc.) They make is so effortless to back up on the banjo. B...

tunings

When i first learned the banjo, I tried to learn many of the different commonly used tunings. They were all nice and each had its advantages, but it took way too much effort to constantly retune. It was a happy day for me when I decided to play everything in G tuning only. And what is the point of m...

It involves a slanted bar on the 11th and 10th frets on the first, fourth and fifth strings.
At least its a close approximation...

Played by none other than Miss Barbara Mandrell.
Now I am really depressed.
I mean, who can play that?

Question

Dave
What other instruments do you play.
Also, do you play any Eagles, CSNY, CCR or other country rock?
I would love to hear one of those on youtube sometime.
Thanks for putting those songs up.
It is an education.
