Al Petty had something very similar way back in late 80’s. Not only could you change pitch on a string but had neat great sounding instruments like sax and piano. I don’t think you could change tunings but could get capo effect.

Changing tunings is awesome on that rig.

Don’t know the thread size Jerry but I’ve done at least one ShoBud I know of. Was a super pro and I just found size that the little deal that goes on end and worked fine. Have done several Emmons.

All you have to do is cut to proper length, then rethread them. I bought a little die set at Harbor freight. They don’t have to be rolled. I’ve done many that way. You will need a vice.

It’s going to be a heavy flying object whether it’s in a case or not I don’t think mine would fly anywhere. Its legs are tied down with heaven bungee cords. And I usually don’t gig in snow storms. If it even looks like snow, everything here shuts down.

I agree Tommy, I really don’t carry mine that way to save time as I’m always at a gig early and have plenty time but I do it because as a whole, it makes it so much easier in all aspects, weight and trouble of putting it together. I don’t know how my Magnum feels in its case because been so long sin...

Like Fred says, it's not so much the journey as what awaits you at the other end. I can't think of a single gig where I could have carried a naked guitar safely from the car to the stage. You’re just not carrying it right then. My guitar does have a scratch on it and only time was in case is day I ...

I haven’t had my steel in it’s case since day I got it. First, I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I have blanket in back and I put steel in feet first with pedal bar down with legs resting against back seat. It’s no going anywhere. Second, taking steel apart everytime you go out is a lot more wea...

On a push pull, the lower rod itself is a good solid stop on right knee, the shorter lowers. The left knee lowers do need a solid stop as the lower rods can tend to flex making knee spongy. Just my opinion. I think the ShoBud super pros had the right idea with the stop built right into the knee brac...

Kelsey is correct and I see you lower 6th which would sorta act as a stop on lowers, especially with that short of push rod. If you absolutely wanted to add a stop, you could add one easy where that wire runs across. That is if the knee lever is long under the cross bar.

Still waiting for a picture. I don’t guess my Magnum has BCT but sure sounds great. Mine has the 4&2 changer. Guess all Magnums had that.

Usually, the push pulls with Legrand style pedals, were made around early to late 80’s. However, i understand that they were offered either way. Also, if they are 70’s guitars with Legrand pedals, someone could have changed them out. I think some models were interchangeable. And Randy, ive never see...

Bct

What exactly is BCT on Carter steel guitars? Can it be added to one that doesnt have it? Is or was it offered on Magnum guitars? Does anyone have a picture of it?

They are very well made guitars that play easy, they are light, they stay in tune, easy to keep clean and they sound awesome. That’s all I play now. Great deal on this guitar.

Bob, I cringe when I listen to my solo on that recording too! It’s tough on E9, Weldon’s ride on the George Strait version is my favorite steel solo so I tried to get “close.” We tracked that whole record live at Jon’s house in his shop over the pandemic. C6th is much easier, even i can get real cl...

Cody, as clean as that guitar is, it may have been rebuilt in last decade. For a 58 year old guitar, it’s really clean but it may just be that clean. I’ve changed 2 pushpulls to brown bellies that were originally black. But no matter whether it was rebuilt or not, it’s absolutely awesome guitar. I m...

I counted them once and I remember it blowing my mind but can’t remember number. Both changers are around 90 parts or close to it so maybe that’ll give you and idea of the many parts of a push pull.

Yes Damir, mine didn’t have the Gumby key heads but still same guitar. Mine was one made in DQueen Arkansas when plant was there. In fact, the guy had built it himself when he worked at plant. He had just quit playing.
