I hate to hear that about Ron Gaddis. I caught Jones' mid-80s Austin City Limits episode last year and was just blown away by what a phenomenal sideman he was.

Have a listen to Rick Nelson album In Concert at the Troubadour from 1969 (the one where he introduces Tom "Bromley") for some great Randy Meisner harmony vocals. So sorry he's no longer among us.

Gene Crossland was another steel player who played with Judy Lynn at one time. Billy Taylor played fiddle (with Bobby Hicks). Both Gene and Billy lived near Broken Bow, Oklahoma. (I think Billy Taylor initially moved there to run a ranch for Judy Lynn.)

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I'm happy to have met him at the Dallas show several years ago and will certainly keep his family in my prayers in the coming days. This forum has been wonderful, and I am happy to hear that his family is planning to continue to maintain it.

About a decade ago, I played steel at a run of performances for "Always, Patsy Cline." Our piano player had a reputation for being the best pianist in our part of the country. She was and is awesome at what she does. You can place a pile of sheet music in front of her, no matter how simple...

Tommy is definitely one of the greats! His playing knocks me out every time I hear him.

Edited to add... When I was at the Opry in 92, I remember seeing the Whites and thinking what a talented brother they had--and I didn't even know they had a brother! (He's not even related, btw.)

I had just recently been wondering about Ronnie. I met Ronnie on my senior class trip 30 years ago. He was playing in (and probably running, IIRC) a Branson-type show in Hot Springs which all 13 of my class members attended. He caught my attention as a GREAT picker (after all these years, the only p...

I'm so very heartbroken to hear this. There are a million things I'd love to say about Roy Rosetta--every one of them good. Roy was a superstar! He's played more steel shows than anyone, and he knew so much. I loved playing bass beside Roy, because even on those crazy jazz and swing tunes, it was ne...

I'm not sure what role he played on the actual recording, but the instrumental "Mexico" was credited to Bob Moore & His Orchestra. (It was, indeed, the same Bob Moore. I looked it up. If it's on the Internet, it has to be true.) So not only did Bob Moore play on a bazillion hit records...
