Newbie - knee lever tuning problem

Just getting in to my first steel, which i may or may not have mistakenly purchased, and i'm having issues with knee lever tuning. it's a 1970 Fender Sho-Bud with three pedals and one knee lever. my problem, with the exception of the guitar generally staying in tune, is that when i tune the knee lev...

Love to see someone do a video, or a book for that matter, of the old style (Helms, Byrd) country stuff. Those old Hank Williams licks and all that. Anyone know a source for that kind of material? Bill Chaviers is helpful, but one doesn't want to impose too much, you know what I mean?

Mooney's "Storm of Love" intro?

Anyone have Mooney's (I think) intro lick from Buck Owens' "Storm of Love"? What a great lick. I couldn't find anything in the archives. Thanks in advance.

I was at dobro workshop and Tim Scheerhorn took a 300 dollar FlintHill (they're all the same, the cheaper ones I think and are made in Korea by Samick) and put a Quarterman cone and an ebony-tipped maple bridge in the thing in about 15 minutes and it sounded like a dream. I have his number at home s...

Man, I had an 40s, white mother-of-you-know-what double-neck Ohau that was sweet as pie. And I sold it in a fit of madness twenty-five years ago. It had a red and white case lined with red plush. My firend says, "Just to be safe, never sell a guitar or a car you've paid off."

my .02 cents worth. a mid-30s regal/dobro squareneck and a 50s harmony mother-of-you-know-what lap steel through a black-face 60s fender princeton and, since i'm assuming they count cuz there's no pedals either, bottleneck slide guitar on a 70s dobro roundneck and a 1999 national delphi. but, i just...

How to get to C6 on my National?

Sorry for seeming thick, but i've been playing in G and D for years on dobro and nationals. i've recently taken up pedal steel and want to start to explore the C6. Using my National, do i lower the 6th string all the way to C? seem slow. and do I raise the D all the way to G? it will snap for sure. ...

Tab for FBB "Juanita" intro?

Can anyone help me with the intro to Flying Burrito Brothers (Pete Klienow) intro to Juanit? I've got most of it, but it's not quite right. Only been playing a couple of weeks so I'm not kicking my self too hard, but the last couple of measures aren't what Pete's playing. Any help would be appreciat...

beginner string guage question

apologies if this have been covered here recently, but i see lap tunings, C6 in particular that call, for example, for a G on the fourth string, or a G on top. my conclusion is that the fourth string G is raised a fourth above the usual D and the G on top is a step and a half above the usual E. Do y...

comments on new lap steel book?

i just saw this book on ebay for sale that i've never seen before. It comes with a cassette and is published by Cherokee Point Productions and is written and illustrated by Jim Calhoun. Has anyone seen it? Is it worth purchasing? Says E6, E7 and E minor tunings. Figured I'd pick it up and if no one ...

i've seen these sonicas on ebay. they claim that they are factory seconds, fell over in a photo shoot or something. maybe it's straight up but it sounds fishy to me. glad to hear someone post that they sound like mud. i think the caveat applies.
