Done several times without any problem...
First you need to loosen the screw located under the bottom cover plate.
Then, just hammer away the axle using a pencil-like wood stick

The only change you may not have, for what I hear, is the F# to G# rise on the first string; all the rest is quite "standard".
Will try to tab it out for you, if you are not in a big hurry

Received dozens of items from USA (pedal steel guitars too) and never had a problem! I bet it all depends on choosing a good service.
