These Nationals are put together with dowels and glue, and can be separated. I see the mechanic has put a couple of steel plates across the bottom to knit the sections together. Must weigh a helluva lot...

I think Jimmie Hudson used to make these... Dobro resonator built in...

If only William Leavitt were around to comment on this... You could make it a 12 string by adding two melody scale note on the top... Leavitt style

Hey, just remember that many of the old time greats, like Emmons and Chalker, all started out on lap steel, and it all adds up. I think I read somewhere in an Emmons C6 pedal book, that a lap steeler can just play the same inside C6 like a lap steel, and gradually learn to eliminate most bar slants ...

Maybe you'll have to lay several sand bags, or weights upon the pedal bar to keep it from walking away... Still, I am fascinated. Bring it on!
