I certainly would check this guy out. It looks very suspicious to me. If the guy was a player, he would know the value of that guitar. Find out all you can about the seller.
It may be the same scammer that got one of the other members here. Pay only with PayPal, that way if something is wrong you can get your money back.

The man's name is Bitby Turtle? I'd give it a wide berth. He has a contact for you- so I'd say if you haven't responded- don't. If you have, then they already know its a current email/account & they think they have you on the hook, so go ahead and ask more questions without divulging any personal info.

I totally missed that the initial pic had the forum water mark in the bottom right corner. That in and of itself is a dead giveaway that it was a pilfered image. That's bush league for a con guy.

Ask him what the "co-dependent" is on it.
Then sit back and laugh.

Yeah, that's why we have the "email" button on the forum. The mail is sent from the forum server with your email address as the "Reply-To" address. That way, only people you correspond with can see it. Non-members can't access it at all.

It' NEVER a good idea to put any personal contact info on any public forum for that very reason. That and bots the scour the net looking for that type of info.Paul Wade wrote:Bob

But your personal email address is still there on your WTB thread - https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=384005Paul Wade wrote:Thanks guys a lot. Learn my lesson today

I strongly recommend that you remove it. Just click the edit button and clear that part of the text. This forces people to reply via PM or forum email, which restricts access to members only.
As stated, putting personal contact information into your threads is an open invitation to scammers - there's nothing stopping anybody in the whole wide world from replying to you. I would only deal with forum members. And even that is no guarantee - there have even been a few scammers bold enough to join the forum to try to perpetrate their scams. The $5 fee is cheap enough if they succeed.
IMO, it has gotten to the point where we even need to vet any member that we don't know reasonably well. And that goes in triplicate or quadriplicate for any new member that comes on to sell something with zero posts. There are some new members that do this that are legitimate. But it takes a careful vetting to be able to tell the difference.

Maybe a prankster with a sense of humor. Maybe it's Kentucky's Turtle Man of TV fame. No one in their right mind would expect one not to decipher his moniker used there.
FWIW, I only sell on the forum. I don't even use the email feature unless someone requests pics and other media or information I can't send by Private Messaging.
I prefer and do complete transactions by PMs. I don't understand why some members seem to deny handling sales among forum members by that method. It takes all the mystery out of the person you're doing business with. You can search their history for time here and other information within the forum. It's the safest method around here.
