It looks like I gone wrong somewhere
it seems its hard to put it to text But ive got a what I call a double step on the pedal it goes part of the way down as if it has stopped and put a little more pressure and it goes down farther so it looks like I've got to start again

Here in the UK it terrible to get anything that's not metric Ive found some stainless steel rods 3/32 but at the moment I can only find them 300mm long and thats fine because I had to change my paddles from my left to my right so 300mm is about the right length for now my rods broke on the hook bend...

thats fine but haven't they got a coating on then ?

As long as the pedal operates smoothly, don't worry about any rust on the pull rod (I think you refer to this as a "wire") that's hooked to the changer. When you're starting out learning to play, don't work on the guitar unless something isn't operating properly. Hi Donny I didn't explain...
