Carter push rods

Hello every one
can any one tell me the following
What size are the push rods ?
what size are the thread is on the end of the push rod ?

what size are the thread on the ends of the pedal rods

and lastly the plastic adjuster ends of the push rod
are they threaded or is it drilled out, and the thread of the push rod make its own thread
I cart get any sense from the metal comp because in the uk we are all metric
I have measured the push rod and to me they are 2.9mm
and I don't know to order 2mm rod

The pull rods are 3/32" in diameter. You can find them online at welding supply stores. Search for "welding rods." I bought some 3/32" stainless steel welding rods from Ebay. You can thread the ends with 4/40 thread (or even finer if you have the tool to do it.) The white plastic adjuster is self-threading. It takes a bit more pressure to put the plastic adjuster on the rod the first time so it's better to do this before you put the rod on the guitar. Have the rod in a vice or held with pliers as you put on the adjuster the first time.

The thread on the pedal rods is 10/32.

I bought 3/32" stainless welding rod from Amazon. That might be an option in the UK.

I've searched for 3/32 welding rods found some on amazon
thats fine but haven't they got a coating on then ?
or do I take the coating off them ? Im rubbish when it comes to metal

you can buy 3/32" steel rods pre-threaded with 4-40 ends from RC hobby supply stores, the most common brand over here is DuBro, you should be able to get those in the UK

Thanks for that source Ian. Wish I had known about it sooner...would have saved a lot of time working rods. Du_Bro site sells a variety of lengths and at Horizon RC too.

I used to get some at the local hobby shop, but they were only zinc plate and unthreaded.

Got mine from. Dubro Products inc. Wauconda , Illinois. USA (check item number 145-6 ) and other length are available.

I like the DuBro rods, not only because they are pre-threaded (with a rolled thread) but because they are less brittle than stainless rods for the tight Carter hook end. I've had several of the original stainless Carter rods break at the hook. (Another reason to go with the setscrew pull pins instead of the original dog bones. I have had worse luck with the hooks than the dog bones. I've never broken a dog bone.)

I've never broken a hook, but had 2 dog bones break on gigs. I did re-rod my E9 neck using the pull pins with set screws and new stainless rods. I would never try to bend the hook without the proper equipment.

I have them also. Pre-threaded with the correct #3-48 thread.
I'm currently out of the #3 tuning nuts but hope to have those soon.

Here in the UK it terrible to get anything that's not metric
Ive found some stainless steel rods 3/32 but at the moment I can only find them 300mm long and thats fine because I had to change my paddles from my left to my right so 300mm is about the right length for now
my rods broke on the hook bend.. the dog bones are ok
but I am using the set screw from now on they are much easer to use..but I have phoned possibly 50 engaging comp to try and get the setscrew .it like trying to get farther charismas to come in July I dont know who's said let got to metric so hopefully it will be done on 5th Sept. thats low long it takes to get the rod

Some Hobby shops in the USA sell 3/32" rods. They are used for hooking up wing and tail controls when building model air planes.

I got a 1 lb. sleeve of stainless rods at our local welding shop. They came from MATHESON. They are made in India and are sized for world market too, 3/32" X 36" Metric size 2.4mm X 915mm.

Their website is www.mathesongas.com . Part Number MSS 308LT500MS.

A local welding shop in England may have these.
