OMG! Such a shock!

Rusty Young and David were my reasons that I picked up pedal steel and lapsteel. They both were so unique, yet everyone in the guitar world wanted to sound like them; still do.

Heaven has got to be nearly full now......

JET 10 tuning

Dan Burnham published the JET 10 tuning a while back: http://www.danburnham.com/jet10-tuning.html It sort of accomplishes what you want to do. Perhaps this tuning with a few mods would work for you. I get the western swing stuff on my E13 tuning: https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/9481_10_s...

Parallel paths

Hey Dwight. I have a 2003 Carter 12 string that I tuned similarly to yours (after many discussions with Zane). https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/9481_Johns_Carter_12_1.jpg I notice you have the double "E"s for sacred stuff. I play some Americana, but mostly Ambient, Jazz and vari...

Hardly noticeable in the photo, caused by removal of the back to change the battery. Almost perfect ;-)

Update on adjustable flags

Hey all, I'm still messing with prototype flags, so here's the latest. 1. I bought a nice chop saw so I can cut straight edges now. 2. The JB weld eventually gave way so I drilled and riveted the pieces together. 3. A single rivet allows me to angle the flag portion of the extension to better match ...

Simple DIY clip on flag

Hello again all, My mind has been working overtime on a simple design for KL flags, so I came up with another prototype. I cobbled this together without a metal chop saw and drill press; all cut by hand. Any half-decent shopsman could do much better with better tools. Start with basic alum stock (I ...

Quick and simple idea

https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2020-03/9481_KL_adj_flag_1.jpg Hey all, This is a simple idea I've had for a while for adding an adjustable "flag" extension to my knee lever. Please pardon my crude drawing; this was thrown together in about 5 mins. The basic idea is to add a second...

Digitech rp360 (the one without the expression pedal)

I'd be willing to pay $100.00 +/- for one in good shape.
I have an RP360XP and I love it, but I want to set up a separate Leslie controller on the "control in" jack of the 360. The XP model won't let me do that.

Thanks,

John

I absolutely love mine

The 360 is capable of tons of great tones; there are so many combos of amps/effects to choose from. I have the version with the expression pedal, and I find it can be set as a very usable PSG volume control because of the flexibility in configurations possible. It really helps to USB to your laptop ...

Here's what I use on my 10 string console

I just got my Eddie Alkire E-harp 10 string form good friend Andy DePaule.
I set it up the same way as my pedal steel and its great for PSG practice as well as working out songs, slants and theory.

Not entirely off topic.............

Andy,

You've made reference to your "weird" tuning a couple of times in the past.
I'd be interested in knowing what that tuning is.

This coming from another non-standard tuning player ;-)

Jim, My sincere condolences on the loss of your son.

I can identify with the pain you are feeling. We lost a young man who was like our second son the same way a few years back, and it does take time to come to grips with it. Sometimes its incredibly hard for brilliant, gifted young people to make their way in a world that isn't perfect; I often think...

watch where the threads of the rod go thru the changer plate

I have seen on several guitars, where after market rods have been added, that if the end thread is cut too deep (long) into the rod, that the friction of the rod will elongate the changer hole. If the rod is made from soft material, the threads get worn at the changer contact point. BMI had the best...
