I've been in Nashville for 17 years and played the vast majority of my gigs through a Nashville 112. The only time I want for more power is on club gigs with no sound system (somewhat rare) or outdoors (also somewhat rare). I normally run a Little Walter these days. I see a a fair number of Boss Kat...

Fryette/VHT 2/90/2 Tube Power Amp

Bought new in 2010. Power tubes are Sovtek KT88s. No rack rash or cosmetic defects. Comes in the original box with the original documentation from new. I'll have it double boxed for shipping. I had this power amp paired with a Revelation preamp and a Lexicon MPX1 and it sounds great. Selling because...

Revelation Tube Preamp & Lexicon Sold - Close

Selling my rack because I'm doing different gigs than I was when I built this rig. Fryette 2/90/2 : Currently getting serviced. Will list for sale separately when that's complete. Revelation Tube Preamp : Bought new in 2007. Has stereo XLR outputs. The mid knob is push/pull: It boosts the low mids w...

Sorry to hear this. Larry was one of the first steel players I met when I started playing in the late 90s. He was always very supportive and a very kind person.

I bought one used that had this problem, pulled the pedal apart and one of the rotary encoders was broken. Fishman sent me a couple of new ones to solder in...problem solved.

Glenn, I'm not sure about the AB statis but I thought the Nashville 1000 was a switch mode power supply. I know it's much lighter than the session 400 I have. Of course the cabinet is about the same size as the Session. The NV1000 has a class D (PWM) power amp. Glenn, are you looking for a combo am...

Sorry to hear this. I ran into Mike on a few gigs around Gallatin, but I know him as much from the local gun shop as anything. A very nice and humble person.

Condolences and prayers to his family.

SM57 or perhaps a Sennheiser E609 will work. I wouldn't go direct unless you have to, or are planning on mixing/re-amping later.

Young people are learning the steel guitar, at least in my world. The ones I know don't participate here, nor do they visit steel guitar shows. Many don't play traditional country music. I have personally mentored 4 or 5 players as they got started in the last 5 years or so, all in college at the ti...

Sad to hear, I have known Steve for years. Glad we were able to pick together over the weekend. Too bad he couldn't play his set on Saturday morning and had to play bass on mine.

Sending prayers for his family.

I do what Tony does and crossfade the punch with the old track later. Most of the time, when I punch in, I keep rolling all the way through to the end, unless it's a solo. Never know when I might like the result better.

There are several 8 ohm Black Widows, like the 1201-8.

I would disconnect the speaker and measure its resistance to verify.

Nope. I'll only do freebies for people who I have a good rapport with. First gig? Not a chance. I used to do free studio work for Belmont students since I went there, but most of them that call are no better than anyone else. Playing at home costs less than playing a free show.

They sound good to me for about 25 hours of playing. I like new strings, and can tell a change in the sound of the plain strings after the first 10 hours or so.

In practice, I change them before an important gig or if I have trouble keeping them in tune. Haven't broken a string in 12 years.
