Dave, you should hear this Cedric guy playing with a gypsy jazz band called “Bow Djangos”. I saw him last summer at an outdoor show in High River and he killed!

I’m very lucky to be playing with a husband and wife duo from Alberta called “Over the Moon” and they happen to use a superb clarinetist named Cedric Blary on their live shows, although having an acoustic roots swing and bluegrassish theme to their instrumention. Does it ever work! I love playing st...

Back in 1991 while visiting and playing in Nashville with Patricia Conroy, we had an off day and I asked my bud Donny Lavallee to take me to prominent steel guys. We hit Jimmy Crawford’s, Bobbe Seymour’s, then ended off the evening at the Franklin’s house. Had a great entertaining and insightful tal...

Ron, I bought one a few months back and found it to be a pretty good amp. It’s light and small, versatile in the power department and very flexible with the effects. I haven’t delved into the computer interface part of it yet but it seems really versatile. I would use the “acoustic” setting for the ...

Tom’s tone had a beautiful warmth about it, somewhat reminisicent of Tommy White’s tone. Also, when he played at Bradshaw’s show, not a mistake. Just dead accuracy with soul.

Nice recover on my Evans amp

I’d like to thank Wayne Brown for doing a recovering of my SE200 Evans amp as it was starting to get hacked up on the bottom edge with use. He recovered it with case carpet-type material that seems just fine. Also tweaked up my pots with pot cleaner so amp is working and sounding great. Thanks, Wayn...

I play in a trad country band and a lot of the time I don’t even need a line out or mic to the board as we play quietly, but I’ve always liked that option with my other amps and they’ve always done the job with a xlr line out. This one is a problem, but I could always default to a mic. Old school.

That really doesn’t answer my problem because it mostly involves recording interfaces as opposed to a mixing board. I guess maybe I need a direct box with a boost.

No signal from line out in a Boss Katana 100

I’m not getting enough signal from my amp to our group’s board. Have turned vol. knob up to about 4 o’clock.

I’ve been working on that banjo-like lick on the intro of “if it weren’t for country music I’d go crazy” and it closely resembles that lick on the Joe Stampley tune. Having a bitch of time making it sound right, though.

Steve Collins from Cremona Alberta

Just played the celebration of life for Steve Collins and his family at the Cremona community hall last nite. Steve passed away on Feb. 1 after a long battle with cancer. The event at the hall was a beautiful event with a full house of friends relatives and pickers and singers. His former bandmates ...

Well i tried my new Katana out at a jam yesterday in Calgary the verdict was positive. Everybody with ears and who knew my sound liked it, me included. I had it on the floor so it was a little muddy so eventually i’ll get one of those handles like i have on my Evans amp to lift the front up a bit.

Thanks Larry and Tony, I’ll try some of your settings and ideas this week. I tried it at a quiet rehearsal today (no drums) and everybody was happy with it. I haven’t really delved into the tone library yet as the onboard sounds might be enough. I play mostly trad country these days at reasonable vo...

Need help with a Boss Katana amp

Just bought a new Boss Katana 100 mk 2 amp and am getting used to it at home. Wondering about the gain staging and where to set the volumes to achieve the best clean tone. Using the acoustic amp setting and seems really good with that. Haven’t read any recent comments on these amps especially for st...

This is the kind of video that’s needed more in the learning steel guitar world. The average joe doesn’t get a chance to see and hear what voodoo is done in the studio. So much different than live.
