Very nice work Joe, you well have a beautiful guitar when you are finished. I had one like it at one time, wish I had not sold it.

Johnny:
Thanks for posting that story, it's good to hear the history
about these guitars. I still like the fingertip with the same cabinet that I have.

I am rethinking this project a bit, I may put the back neck on instead of a pad. I will set this up as a 6 string Dobro neck and use external electronics for sound effects. Here some photos of a mockup neck for the guitar. I will use an 8-string fretboard for this neck. https://bb.steelguitarforum.c...

I have made some more progress on the Fingertip now. all of the undercarriage has been installed, the key head and changer casting is on, and I have a set of strings installed. Now I have to start tunning and adjusting to see how it will play. I still have to make an arm pad to cover the back neck. ...

Ricky I had to think of you when I pulled this pickup out of the box. Does not have a coil tap, but I never used it anyway. The barrel tuners are tuned from the bottom, but when they are set I don't recall ever changing one. Here is a photo of the pickup for you. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/user...

If you attached the pull rods to the changer like this photo
it will take some slop out of the action. There are also other things that can be done.

Sho-Bud Fingertip SD-10 Rebuild

I am finally getting a chance to work on this Sho-Bud Fingertip. Going to build it as an SD-10 using most of the original Fingertip parts. This will have four knee levers, and three pedals. I am ready to install the rods and electrical wiring next. Not sure how long this well take me. https://bb.ste...

Justin the Sho-Bud pictured in the link above was made before the pot metal parts were made. As for the decal it should say Pro II but that won't affect the playing of the guitar in any way. I have no Idea of the value of guitars in your area that would be a judgement call.

I’m struggling with tuning this old beast… The setup is pretty straight forward, but getting it tuned up has presented some real challenges for a complete idiot novice….. LOL…. Jim

Jim what is your goal here? If you just want to learn to play, then the best option would be to get a good working newer style guitar and spend your time learning how to play. You could clean up the Sho-Bud a bit put on some new strings do a setup and get started now. The knee levers on the old Bud ...

Here are a couple photos of a similar guitar that I restored, it is very possible but a lot of time and work. It all depends on how far you want to go.

Looks to be an early 60's Permanent D-10. Probably not the original color and has very interesting pickups. Does not have string rollers and looks to have seen a lot of play would be interesting to know where it has been.

This guitar is on display in Carlsbad Ca. at a place called Museum of Making Music. I don't know anything about the guitar, other than, I saw it on display. You can read the description on the sign which is standing by the guitar. It is talking about guitars from the 1950's, which it is clearly not,...

My guess is not a Miller, I think it's Homemade. Not a Miller style changer or under carriage.
