MIDI technology is 43 years old. I suspect that AI--Artificial Intelligence-- that everyone is talking about will be a game changer for music synthesis and production. Apparently it can mimic just about anything we can do. The mechanics free Pedal Steel Guitar is probably much closer than we suspect.

A Justice S10 is one the best bang for the buck new pedal steels available. It is a basic pro model, not a student model. A 3 pedal 4 knee lever will cost $1450 plus shipping and includes a case. For what most 3 and 4 used steels are selling for, this a great deal.

Audacity will do it, and it is free. It will capture any audio that is playing on or streaming to your computer, even the audio tracks of video. Their are a couple of settings that you have to change in Audacity. Then all you do is hit record, then play your audio or video source. Audacity will auto...

Try Web Strings:

https://www.webstrings.com/products/ele ... -flatwound

Their flat wounds are $9.99 a set plus shipping.

I have been buying all of my strings from them--guitar, bass, banjo, and mandolin--for probably 20 years. Great strings at a great price.

I have repaired bad grounds on a couple of early 70's Fender bass guitars. The ground for the strings was nothing more than the ground wire stripped back and laid under the bridge plate. Over time the wire is pressed into the wood, oxidation forms, no more ground. You must make a solid connection be...

Once set up, all you have to do is press record at the right moment for the audio you want to capture. There are free plugins available that deal with eq, noise reducti...

From 23 to 30 watts is not much difference, and I doubt you, or anyone else, will hear it. The big difference comes in how you bias your tubes. The more heavily built 5881 can handle more voltage and current, and can be "under biased," allowing more voltage to flow through the tube, causin...

I have no idea what brand of tubes are "best." What I do suggest is that you get a matched quad set of tubes and replace them all. Then, both sections of the amp will have balanced output.

IF you look in the for sale section, there are a lot of D10's and SD 10's for sale. I suspect they, D 10's in particular, are for sale by "older players," (I fall into that category) who no longer want to carry the weight (I have moved a D10 a couple of times--heavy!!). Rather than buy ano...

The gentleman that started me out on pedal steel, Chuck Manchester, was a slant master. He started out as a kid with the door to door lap steel programs that were popular in the fifties. He did not start on pedal steel until the early 70's, after a stint in the Army. When I met him, about 20 years a...

Looks like the three way selector switch found on many Gibson electrics with 2 pickups that have dual volume and tone control, like Les Paul and 335's.

Woody Guthrie's position was to change a few words, change the melody and rhythm a little, and you have a new song. Very common in folk and early country music. Bob Dylan also "borrowed" melodies and structure in his early work, as many folkies did. There was a post here on the forum a whi...
