Get with Rick Schmidt here, on FB, or check his YT page. He has studied application of Barry Harris harmony on steel. I think he wrote a paper on applying it on both necks.

Wow! That says a lot. Johnny is known for being able to sit at about any guitar and play it well in a couple of minutes.

Jimmy’s C6 playing seems influenced by Bob White on the Hank Thompson records. Heavy on the Maj9 pedal and big chords. Or was it the opposite?

A lot of the top pros I admire opt for assorted Peavey steel amps for live play, if not for the studio. For them it’s their livelihood so the don’t cut any corners. I always enjoyed talking to him at the TSGA and hearing him play a great authentic Western swing style. He’s now playing with our mutual band leader (him in Texas and me in Georgia) Bill Adams again. RIP Bobby.
