To me, it simply is not doable having a pedal steel in a backline situation. Every player uses their own setup and also every guitar feels different. Even if I got to a show and found that a steel was set up the same as mine are, I'd likely have trouble getting used to it on the spot.

I've always loved that song and Zane you've done a great job with that rendition! It's lovely.

The Guitar Factory shop in Gladesville Sydney often has GFI steels for sale - that would make a good steel for a starter.
Not many decent used steels come up over here as you've noticed.

I know this thread is 4 years old but I just saw it. When I saw the Eagles with Vince in Sydney a couple of years ago, Vince was def singing a lot of the high harmonies for TBS. TBS voice isn't what is was and I got the impression he had to save it for the 1-2 numbers he sings each night.

I've got a Hilton volume pedal and recently sent it from Australia to Keith in the USA for servicing. His communication is excellent and the pedal arrived back in Australia like new. He's a top operator.

Keep your strings fresh, use a heavier bar - this makes a real difference and work on your right hand string attack.
