I met Steinar here on the Forum. I was dealing with my own health issues around 2009 or 2010 when we sort of just lost touch. I was looking for his email address today when I found this thread. Prior to 2010 we maintained frequent emails, jokes, and just plain good conversation. He helped me so much...

I've been chewing on this one for a couple of days. With orchestral or chamber music you get fired if you can't play it note for note at each performance. The 'expression' is even controlled by the composer on the score. As was said above, a strict cover band must have the ability to sound like a hu...

Gerald - Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy hearing your hands. I sure have to agree with you regarding lyrics. As an amateur songwriter/lyricist, it's my pet peeve. I have many songs that would be finsihed save for that one line that either is not written or doesn't sound musical. In music school t...

Jerry - Yes, the police told him that it only happens about 5% of the time. He's a great kid and, though I don't always agree with his choice of music, I am very proud of his love for music and playing. Surgery on Dec. 23 - had my whole cervical spine reconstructed - a vertebrae replaced, all re-aligned and reinforced with titanium plates and screws, and fused from C4 down to T1. Sooo, I been pretty much flat on my back since around the first of November. Much better now. Thanks for asking! Don ---...

Jim, man your wife has a great set of pipes! My experience on the road was in the 70's-80's mostly in disco type dance clubs. Most of the club owners required us to socialize with the guests - that meant the women. The rational was that if the women were there then the men would certainly show up an...

Stolen gear story you gotta read!
I bought my son his first bass guitar when he was in Junior High. He is now 25 years old and has worked himself into a position as a well known, and even sought after, bass player in the Minneapolis area. He saved and sacrificed in order to build his equipment. He owns a beautiful Fender P-Bass with...

I used to have a George Benson and I really liked it over the Gibsons. And, I REALLY liked the price. I'd probably still have it but I traded it in on a solid body Ibanez Artist. Wish I still had that one too. I also used to have a Black Lab named Ibanez! http://steelguitarforum.com/biggrin.gif Don ...
