I couldn't agree more! The legs that Don made for me are top notch. He is fast, great to work with and very, very reliable.

Jussi - you got home quickly!! Guys, I do have to "second" everything Jussi says...JWs new disc is a really fine example of everything I love about music. The players are top notch; the recording quality is great and really serves the style well, not over produced, just simple and aurally ...

Fender Vol/Tone Pedal tone issues

I have a Fender Vol/Tone pedal. I never noticed until recently how much my tone changes when I plug it in. There is some volume loss and over all loss of signal clarity, (regardless of where the tone pot is left side/right side/dead center). Is this common or is it just my pedal. I did replace the p...

The last time I saw a discussion on this it seemed that the people who had or had tried both the Bigsby pedal and Fender pedal seemed to prefer the Fender. I have a Fender and it works fine (after I replaced the volume pot and tone pot, thanks db!). The Bigsby pedals seem to be going for about $250 ...

I see that most people are disappointed with these lap steels. I have one and it screams! It's easy to play (which for is easy to say because I suck at steel). I think if the price is right, $0-$200, then get it. I think that they are better than many of the MOTS lap steels (magnatones, etc.) I've c...

I read it and I dont understand why Bill is so upset either. I also don't understand why there is a thread on the Academy Awards (which is for the FILM industry) in the MUSIC section. Additionaly, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It would be just as silly if someone got bent out of shape b...

I beleive that Duane Marrs did a prototype pedal similar to that when he worked at Sho-Bud. I e-mailed the seller and he says when you plug it in there is a small red light on the side that lights up. I have no idea why...neither did he.

I just got "Dekes Guitar Geek Festival" DVD today. This is a must have for anyone who digs the "retro" stuff. JW and TK do an amazing job of banging out a handful of Speedy and Jimmy tunes. They also do a great job on "Sweedish Pastry", pretty much the note for note arr...

Stratosphere Boogie - HELP

This is a bit off topic, but I need help settling an argument regarding Stratosphere Boogie. Does anyone here know (as in definitively!) How Jimmy Bryant tuned the 12 string neck of his Stratosphere Twin on Stratosphere Boogie?

David,

I'm pretty sure it's Jeremy Wakefield. He's done most (if not all) the Steel work for Spongebob. If you do a search (I believe this topic has been discussed) You'll find a lot more info on this.

Bakelite Bars

Does anyone use bakelite bars, like the old Nick Manoloff ones? I have one and I find it really easy to use and I like the tone of it. I know a lot of players prefer a heavy bar (for better sustain?) The bakelite bars have almost no sustain yet the tone reminds me of guys like Bob Dunn. As a novice ...

Custom Made Legs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick post here...awhile back I made an inquiry on getting legs for a mid 50's Gibson Consolette D8. Don Burrows sent me an e-mail and told me he could fabricate some for me and boy did he! The legs arrived today (less than two weeks after he started the job!!!!) and they turned out great. If...

The funny thing to me is, I see Uke as being more embarassing! When I think of Hawaii I think of Don Ho and Tiny Bubbles. What is upsetting about that statement is the reference to 'corny redneck country music'. Famous Coutry Steelers IMO have legitimized the Steel Guitar. But again that is in my op...

Ok, Bobbe Seymour says his legs are NOT a direct fit, meaning I would have to buy the sockets and route out my Steel. I don't want to modify my steel. Still looking for the specs on the thread end of a the legs for a mid 50's Gibson Consolette.
Thanks!

Hey Jussi, Thanks for the info, that makes sense regarding the AB classification. It does have a JBL D-130F in it, which for my money is the best speaker around. It’s very efficient. I’m actually look at some other options for amps right now because as I stated earlier, the Standel is, at times, too...

Ok, here is my question, I have a Standel "Custom" L83 from the early 60's. It is one of the hybrid models with two power tubes, one pre-amp tube AND transistors. So, is this Class A, AB…??? To my ears and taste, the amp sounds great, it’s clean and has lots of power, in some rooms, too mu...
