Thanks guys, We didnt have internet access last week in Ga. so I could not see the replies. I got the problem fixed. The gain from the board was much too low and this was the distorting problem. Hey Guys, Anybody here use ear monitors? I have a Samson unit with Shure E1 ear pieces. I am getting a real distorted sound and my steel dosnt sound meaty. Is there any ear peices that sound normal? I started playing a sraight steel at the age of nine. I have been playing a pedal steel '' Fender 400'' for almost 2 years, and I learn somthing new every day. It is my most favorite thing to do. I am now 24 years old and saving for a D-10.

Graham,
What kind of steel is that? I play a Fender 400, and I am also a lefty. I play with the bass strings away from me, and set on the front side of the guitar. I did some rigging so I could use the pedals, and I also pedal with my right foot. That guitar is beautiful! Who made it?
