One more thing,- a big thanks to everybody who's sent me CD's, unfortunately I haven't had the energy or time to listen to them. I look forward to the day I can listen through them all! 8)

I'll be home for a couple of days next weeek, just to see how it works out it out. Hopefully this means I'll soon be moving home to my own apartement and start getting my old playing chops together. They sure need it.......... ;)

Dear Mr Supreme Please keep protecting all these wonderful brothers and sisters who have sent me so many good wishes, and brought so much joy and support into my life just when I needed it the most. I don't know what I would have done without these good people, please take good care of them. Also, ...

An enthusiastic bump for a great CD! Kevin's playing is smooth and swinging with solid back up guitar from Gary Rudd on a set of very enjoyable tunes. Every player interested in acoustic steel should have this one! :)

Ron,- tomorrow I'll have a thorough ultrasound scan, and I also have an appointment at an X-ray center in December. Hopefully they'll reveal if there's anything more serious going on. Mike,- I checked the Alexander Technique a while back, after another friend suggested it. Unfortunately the nearest ...

Thanks for asking, Mitch. Unfortunately, there's not much "grit and growel" coming from me these days, only "whining".. I have a bad case of "guitar shoulder" (or something), got it in late June and it's only become worse, even after three different anti-inflammatory cu...

Not meaning to hijack, but I just bought this one for bottleneck slide. Cost next to nothing, and after replacing the silly little pots with solid 500K's, it's got a killer bottleneck sound. Set the action at 2,75mm on the treble side and 3mm at the bass side with 011-049 strings, tuned to E. http:/...

I've got to get a new nut to raise the strings higher I wouldn't raise the strings at the nut if I were you. One of the (many) things that separates bottleneck slide from lap steel is the ability to combine fretted notes with the slide work. If you raise the action at the nut you'll basically have ...

Hm... As far as I could hear he was playing what the song called for, often doubling the backing vocals with his lines. What else could he have done on such a 'busy' song? While he's certainly no virtuoso he's playing what the song needs, filling in on the minimal empty space that's left, and that's...

In the end - for me - it's always been about the music, not the instrument. When I got real passionate about lap steel, sometime around '03, I had reached a point as guitarist where I was sick and tired of hearing myself playing the same cliches over and over. The lap steel, with its beautiful singi...

Do my eyes deceive me or is that a Hipshot Trilogy bridge on that guitar?
Yes, that's a Trilogy bridge, and it would make retuning from C6 to E6 a breeze since they're fairly close:

C6 - - E6

G - - G#
E - - E
C - - C#
A - - B
G - - G#
E - - E

The recording is in the key of A and he's playing out of the 5th position, so that would indicate an E tuning.. E6?
