6 string PSG-E9-AB&E lower. Too Cold at Home

I was just revisiting Mark Chestnut's "Too Cold at Home" and I thought how easy this is to play on a 6 string, especially the ones with an e lower. Since there are a lot of new players I figured it couldn't hurt to point out a tab that 6 stringers can play. There is a discussion and severa...

Hi Emil

Have a look at this web site

https://dhdube.wixsite.com/psgbeginner

It has hundreds of free E9th pedal steel lessons and some tabs, links, etc. Browse through the playlists to see where you might want to go next. It will give you an idea.

I hope this helps.

OMG. Stunned. I've been on the internet since Arpanet and B0B is the best person I ever met on it. The web is a colder place today. B0B's brainchild is one of the things I treasure, and I am certain that thousands of people feel the same way. B0b's loved ones can take solace in knowing how many peop...

For my part you are welcome Wayne, but the lion's share should go to Mickey who did the work and to Steve who preserved it. Both of these outstanding guys are now gone on but their contributions to this community live on in their posts and their projects such as this. They are missed.

Making available

You know if you wanted to run it as a special library, I bet it would be fair use, since all of these items were properly purchased originally. The trick would be to use a booking system software (there are free versions out there). Have to be able to set it to lock and unlock access to the file sto...

Downloading Mickey D's Tabs

I just noticed that Alan had trouble getting the tabs. Better late than never. When you click on the link on the site, it goes to a Google Drive. It will tell you it can't preview because the file is too large (133MB). That's OK. Just click download. Then it will protest that it can't scan for virus...

Ha. Yeah I used to play with a young rockabilly bass player that showed me that one. I guess the artist is/(was?) in a punk rock band but also liked to do country music and so he did a solo project in that genre. I thought that was some pretty sweet steel playing, and still have it on a playlist. Fi...

Fred

Thanks so much for your kind words. They put a smile on my face.

My effort is nothing compared to all the time and effort of the many people (most--if not all--from this forum) who made such great content.

Nonetheless, you made my day Fred. Thanks.

I saw one of the road players post about the Champion 100 when they first came out. Nobody was interested in talking about it then. Before I give my opinion, let me qualify it by saying that I play for fun, not profit, so consider my comments to be in reference to a practice amp. I have also owned A...

You are welcome Arch. The Real thanks though, should be given to all those unselfish people (most are members of this forum) who took the time to produce so many valuable lessons. You got to love these people! Great community. I hope the site gives you a good start.

Just got back on the grid. Wow. Though this is late, I owe him my respect. Mike was an integral part of my experience of the Forum, and a valued one. Though we had a few disagreements, he was a "must read." His accomplishments speak for themselves, but what I hadn't realized, and think spe...

Yes that is a typical copedent except that string 10 the low B is usually raised to C# on the A pedal too. String 6 G# is sometimes lowered to f# instead of string 7 raised. Then a split is tuned so that you can get a G when B pedal and G lever are both used simultaneously. I have no idea which is m...

Kelcey, Oh sure. I suppose anything is possible. I use a couple barrels for specific applications on pull release guitars that have bell cranks and tuning nuts too. I just took note of the missing barrels as a previous post did and went on to provide info thinking it was needed. If I had read furthe...

Welcome Nathan. The rack and barrel parts, your pedals and 2 knee levers won't make any sounds without barrels to push on. The rack moves the barrels which are fixed to the rods with set screws. You fine tune them by loosening the end out to expand or tightening to contract, which sets how much the ...

+1 on that. Jim is a "go to" for parts but what sets him apart is that he has been a great resource for solving problems as well.

Steel Guitars of North County is my "neigborhood guitar shop." After all, it's only 2,348 miles away, but the service never suffers from it.

I have bought parts from Michael, too. It looks like most of his inventory is dried up right now. You might check with Jim Palenscar at Steel Guitars of North County. He has been able to supply parts a couple times when I was in need.

I have owned two 6 string pedal steel guitars. They are a lot of fun. I tune to middle 6 of e9. It is a fun guitar to play. You would be surprised how many country standards can be played on that exactly like the record. I had a Lonestar 6 that was 3x4. Awesome guitar. Jim Flynn does quality work. I...

Joe That's Terry Crisp playing Green Green Grass of Home. I agree he shows that technique/skill is more important than the axe. I have seen similar videos of players on a 3x1 Red Baron, maverick, and Sidekick. They didn't miss splits or even half the changes and sounded fantastic. So the bottom line...

Jason

If you want to see passion, ask which is the best way to tune a pedal steel!

No don't!! LOL Better to search "tuning" and get a forum history lesson.
