Hi, Tim. Great to hear from you. It's been years since we've ran across each other. That's a great idea, one which I should have had myself. I don't remember his name, and I'm not sure that the same guy even still owns the Grizzly Rose. But I'll look into it, and see what I can find out. Where you p...

Thanks for the reply, Donny. That at least gives me something to go on. I'll try to search and see if I can find that post. I picked up the Fender 1000 and another pedal steel from the owner of the Grizzly Rose in Denver about 10 years ago. He was a collector, and had them out on display, but wanted...

Johnny-Come-Lately

I had been looking for the original "Johnny" of this guitar just to meet him if he was still around. But I guess it's a Johnny-Come-Lately. I haven't been able to come up with anyone with that name who might have been the original owner. Granted, it has been a number of years, and it was a...

Fender 1000 Pedal Steel Guitar "Johnny"

I was wondering if someone out there might be able to tell me who tell me who the original owner of this Fender 1000 Pedal Steel Guitar was. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1712/2819_MVC441F_2.jpg The insert in the middle comes in and out, and was professionally made for "Johnny". T...

Thanks for the kind words, David and Jack. I'd be surprised if Sotheby's would be interested in anything like this. But who knows?
Jerry: Thanks for your advice: I'll look up Chris Lucker and see what I find out.

Advice on Selling Price for "BLONDIE" 1964 Emmons

I'm going to finally put my 1964 Emmons up for sell, which I have owned now for 50 years. I began a post about this in Steel Players, which you are welcome to look at, but the post should have been here, under Pedal Steel. I know that there are many Emmons experts on the Forum. I first ran a post ab...

You're right. I think I have asked about this in the wrong section. Sorry, B0B.
I'll close this post and move to Pedal Steel.

Buddy was the first owner, I was the second. Buddy did not own the guitar for very long. I know I had possession of the guitar certainly by late '65. I began taking pedal steel lessons in the fall of 1965 from Ron on this guitar at the Emmons Guitar Factory in (then) Graham, NC. It later became Burl...

Bobby: This is a non-serialized Emmons. I learned that Ron let some of these early guitars go out the door without serial numbers. I posted on the Forum about this guitar on 01/14/2002. If you lookup the old post, there is a lot of information and pictures about the guitar from 15 years ago. It has ...

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1504/2819_emmonsfront_1.jpg After nearly 50 years of owning this Emmons, I am putting it up for sale. I have no idea what to ask for it, and saw the post in the "For Sale" section that is was okay to ask for advice about a selling price. This is a one...

Thanks for the kind words, Tim. Sorry to hear that it's your final show after all those years. I still recall the many times I was able to get down to the old Denver Barn Dance shows, and see/hear your band! Great music! Let us know what your plans are. After all, you can't quit 'steelin'.

Paddy: I play pedal steel with the Dick Frost Band. On Sept. 1st, we'll be at The Wild Horse Saloon, in Kiowa, CO. It's about 35 miles from Denver, so it may be to far to drive for you. We play classic country. We'll be there from 8PM to midnight. Check out our website at www.dickfrost.com . If you'...

I've been using a metal thumbpick for over 30 years. I've tried plastic and don't like them. I prefer the tone a metal pick gives. The only bad part about it is trying to find where to buy the ones you want. Over the years, the oil and sweat in my thumb has caused the inside of the pick to rust out....

Larry: Yes, this little beauty sounds great. I occasionally take it out to the night clubs and gig with it. We play a Hank Williams set, and it has that wonderful original sound. I bought it here on the forum a few years back or so. I'm certainly no authority on these guitars. When I purchased it, i...
