I previously indicated that I play in New Balance shoes (like Junior Knight). But I also often have to get "cowboy'd up" On my first gig with a certain band about 10 years ago, the singer yelled at me because I was wearing white gym shoes. I immediately bought a pair of BLACK New Balance (...

Speaking of, what exactly does "significant work on a Franklin" entail? Happy to help further if I can! This is a recent acquisition and the copedent is completely different from mine. Also this thing has a bunch of compensators whose function I don't really understand and I'm reluctant t...

Same here Junior.
My neuropathy is my worst enemy right now.
New Balance for me, too. I would love to play in boots, but my toes get stuck in the pedal rods.

Super Pro Knee Lever

Looking for a knee lever for a 1981 Super Pro. I already have the bracket; I just need the straight lever and hardware to attach it.

Joe was my first teacher 40 years ago. I only wish I was capable of learning the things he taught me. Definitely HOF material.

I didn't mean to insult C# by calling it "weird." I'm sure it gets a workout in the studio; just not so much on the bandstand, where it's usually changed, in my experience. Consequently, I rarely visit those points on the fretboard.

For kicks, I slowed this down this afternoon, and this is what I came up with for that ascending lick. Could be in the neighborhood, could be nowhere close. I can't actually PLAY it, but I did write it down... I took a stab at it -- go ahead and fix it wherever it's broken! The 'a2' is a half-pedal...

Mark, did you ever get a response to this? There were no replies, but like 575 views, so clearly a topic of interest. I'm looking for the same thing. Thanks.

Thanks, Josh. By messing around with it, I basically came to the same conclusions. I have been A/B-ing it with my Twin and am actually very pleased. This has a Celestion G-10 speaker that is billed as being "more vintage" "chewier" and "rounder" with an emphasis on the ...

Quilter Micropro Mach 2 10" settings

Is anybody using one of these for steel? This was recommended to me as a lightweight option for small gigs and sessions. It sounds very interesting, but the EQ options are incredibly confusing. I thought my Evans EQ was difficult! That is a snap by comparison. My question is: If you are using this, ...

Re: Man this is great!

Its just "in and out", up and down.... he seems like he's pumping the pedal.. Volume comes up too strong, then fades out at seemingly inappropriate times or something... Almost like he's using a wah pedal, not a volume pedal.. I actually think some of Jerry's best stuff occurs on the tune...

Jerry Garcia is probably the reason I started playing pedal steel. I was trying to figure out why I couldn't play his "Teach Your Children" parts on my regular guitar when someone explained what he was doing. He does have a unique style, one that I think resembles Ralph Mooney's, who I thi...

Uses For The G Lever

I'm interested in how people are using the lever that raises the 1st & 7th strings a whole tone, and the 2nd string a 1/2 tone, sometimes called the "G" lever. I did a few searches that turned up nothing, but I may not be using the right search terms. Thanks in advance.

I always tell people that a "steel pedal" is what makes your car go fast. A "pedal steel" is what I play.

This reminds me of when Lloyd Green met with the Byrds before the Sweetheart album was recorded and asked: "Where do you want me to play?" They replied: "All over!!" Although he wasn't used to it as a Nashville session player, he produced a tutorial on how to do it.

I have two. One is probably the third one made, purchased at the 2000 ISGA. Upgraded to the new changer. The other is a 2nd generation, but with the newer changer. I went down to the factory to pick it up and had lunch with Reese, Johnny, and Junior Knight. They are the only guitars I will play out ...
