Chris-- I was at a gig to see Rick Schmidt play and he said he was hoping to make it. Boy, he gets a great tone from his'Bud. I guess I'm past due in having you do the yearly maintenance on my Carter.

The area code in Blackie's part of Riverside county is now 951. 909 is the old one and has been split in half (some are still 909 while others are 951).

Roger-- the Loretta Lynn concert was on my local PBS too. What I show! I was blown away by Bob's steel playing. I did not know who he was but figured I'd find out here. That was great playing and great audio mixing (especially considering it was 1978)!

Jack-- socks for me too! I've got a wide flat foot and it is just easier to mash the pedels I plan on if I'm only wearing socks. Of course, I keep the shoe close by when it is time to walk on the floor (as described in a previous reply!)

Is it official yet?

Hi-- I haven't heard any more comments recently about whether or not Pedal Steel.US magazine was going to publish anymore. Has it officially gone belly up? Hasn't it been over a year or a year and half since we subscribers got the last issue? If Bobbe Seymour and Reece Anderson can become friends ag...

Everybody in RR's Band is an excellent musician. This Austin City Limits show was even better than RR's first appearance. I was really impressed with Calvin Cook's playing. I assume that was a Fender. Calvin Cook showed just how tasty an effect delay can be on a steel guitar.

Just a question as I'd like to come hear you guys. At the American Legion Hall in Anaheim, you have to be a member or a member's guest to gain admittance. Are these gigs always open to anyone at the Culver City American Legion Hall?

No doubt Rusty Young deserves to be in the HOF. I saw him with POCO in 1969 (maybe early 1970) and have always liked the psg since. Beisdes his country and country-rock playing, check out his version of "Everybody's Talkin' " on Suite Steel. His jazz chops/C6 work is right up there BE's &q...

I went out to Blackie Taylor's shop in Riverside CA in 1999, and he still had a copy of the book (with the vinyl record in it too!). Blackie recommended it as a starter, self-instructional book. It worked out great because Riverside was too far to drive from Anaheim for lessons. Dan Farrell '97 Cart...

I started out on six string in 1959. Started playing bass in 1973 (guitar players were a dime a dozen in the 70s; guitar players like me were a nickel a dozen). Finally started playing pedal steel in 1999. Got my self a dobro in 2002. I can suck on the dobro as well as I can on the pedal steel.
