Great topic Bob, hope we get some intelligent discussion on this one http://steelguitarforum.com/wink.gif . For the record, I'm 34 years old and much prefer anything from Merle Haggard, George Jones, Buck Owens, Ray Price, etc... to the NCS. Although it's difficult to say exactly what I don't like a...

Might as well just go on over to Bobbe's forum if we're just going to have a urination contest here. I used to come here for helpful insight and intelligent discussion, but now it's all personal attacks and profanity. ------------------ Chad Smith Fender B&G Bender Tele Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Tem...

Ed Naylor - Thanks

I just wanted to publicly thank Ed for taking the time to provide me with expert help and guidance today. He took the time to determine what my abilities are and what specific needs I have, and then started thinking about how to best meet them. Before we ended our conversation Ed had already come up...

Ed, I understand completely, and apologize for any misunderstanding. I re-read your e-mail yesterday and have responded to it with my address and phone number as you requested. I look forward to receiving some information, and talking with you on the phone about different options I may have. Best Re...

Joe, Thanks, all we need is that one break to show our stuff, and I hope we'll be off and running after that. Frank, I see your point, and I guess I was a little too quick to generalize the situation based on my limited experiences in 2 markets. I have also seen the same type of bands onstage that y...

Gil, I've been wondering if there was any source for components recently as well, as I'm one of those "build your own nuts" http://steelguitarforum.com/wink.gif Had to sell my GFI to keep the family budget afloat this spring, and have been thinking that maybe I could afford to build one an...

The musicians only have themselves to blame. Most of the country bands I see out there are ill equipped, unrehearsed, badly dressed and play like crap. The good ones with real talent stick out like a sore thumb and never lack for work. Kevin, I have to respectfully disagree with you ...

My wife and I saw Hal in concert her in Tucson last fall, and he did not have a steel. His newer material was much less country than his earlier material, but his performance was heartfelt and intense as always. My wife is a HUGE fan of Hal's, and she switched to country when "Past the Point of...

Glenn, Our band is using the exact same setup as you described, and I have to agree 100% with your comments and observations. One thing to add to it from proir experience. A few years ago, in my former band (back on the east coast) I tried a set of "entry level" Nady in-ear monitors. Altho...

Ricky, Thanks a lot for tabbing the intro for me. Being new to the steel, I sometimes have no clue what position I should be in to get the proper changes and such. Kevin, Thanks a million for your time. On guitar I usually do the exact same thing (try to copy the other instruments). I also play keys, but with the picks on it will be impossible to split like I can on guitar. I'll look forward to your reply with the tab. ------------------ Chad Smith GFI S-10 3+4

Merle's "Big City" intro

Hi everyone. I'm relatively new to the forum, mostly looking at posts for advice and tips. I would love to get some help on the intro to Big city, and also some ideas on the lead break (other than playing the intro over again) as I am the only lead instrument. I usually play guitar but am finally go...
