Thanks Craig, and thanks to the person who messaged me. I brought it to a buddy's house yesterday and he happens to be a minor sho bud guru. Posting the solution here for anyone who might stumble on this thread in The future. When I reinstalled the bracket for the helper springs, I installed it back...

Help with Sho Bud barrel issue
Hi Friends, I'm hoping someone here can discover where I have gone wrong here. I have read all of the wealth of threads I can find on similar topics, including Ricky Davis's many excellent comments on similar threads. And yet I can't seem to find anyone with a similar issue. I'm hoping that is becau...

Sho Bud Brass Barrels
Hi friends, I'm hoping someone out there has five or six brass barrels for a sho bud I'm restoring. Many thanks for your help.

Now $1600 Here's my BMI for sale because I've gotten a new guitar and can't afford to have two. I'm not exactly sure on the date, but Don Fritsche at BMI estimates it's from the 90s based on the milled out endplate. I bought this in 2020 from Jack Goodson, who was very helpful and really kind and ge...

Sho Bud LDG?
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me learn a little bit about this guitar. This belongs to a friend who is an accomplished luthier and lap steel player but who doesn't play with pedals as much. He's offered to sell it to me. He says he believes it is a Sho Bud LDG but doesn't know anything else about ...

OK, I'm gonna be blunt. IMHO, if you have $1500 to spend, don't screw around with old starter guitars. As pedal steels , they are marginal at best. Yes, you can learn the rudiments on them, but why not start with a professional level instrument, or at least a solid, modern, entry-level instrument? ...

I have a Carter Starter 3x4 I was hoping to unload. It's a little controversial on this forum and does indeed have the famous lkl issues that have been discussed at length elsewhere on here. Supposedly it's an easy fix but I don't use that knee lever often enough to have bothered. That said, it's be...
