100% usable for practice and small gigs. Just make sure to change out the Oxford speaker and replace with a 10-in JBL or a Weber. That increases both headroom and volume substantially. It's an incredible sound.

Check out O'Rourke with a boss synth pedal. The last few are with steel guitar: https://youtu.be/oTDDdnKWxDc?si=OqU1d044uHVy63up It's a fun pedal but, unlike orourke, I'm not creative enough to figure out a musical use for it. Another chase bliss type manufacturer that I think is a little less overw...

The Jerry Byrd big book has an E13 section. I skipped that one but it's there. It's really an incredible resource.

I love compressors. I just like a little bit of squish when I play. Probably the safest all-around choice is the Cali76 in any of its various configurations. I have the compact deluxe. It is transparent. My buddy has one of the Cali76 big boxes with transformer buffered out. I like that one even bet...

Does anybody have any experience with this change? Can anybody try to explain to me why it would be useful? When I try to analyze it I can't quite figure it out.

I've not tried that particular amp. But I've had a Yamaha THR10C for several years now. It is still my favorite fender deluxe model. It sounds fabulous with pedal steel and seems to capture the feel of the real thing as well. At times it came eerily close to capturing that old Lloyd Green thing from...

A blast from the past. Does anybody happen to have a copy of the instructional tape he apparently shipped about 20 years ago?

Been playing through it for a couple of weeks. I have an outboard tube spring reverb right before it and a furlong split cab powering it. I didn't really get what all the fuss was about until I switched back yesterday to my usual tube amp. Everything was off, especially the high end. It drove me mad...

Hi, not sure who's building cases these days. Anybody have a recommendation for somebody to make a case for a dual professional?

Thx,

Mark,

Maybe call Asher and see if they're stocking the old deluxe 34 stand:

This is probably not going to be super useful but one of those came in an amp I purchased. I used it for a while with lap steel. It was very loud and too bright for my taste. I replaced it with alnico hemp cone and like the results much more. I then put the Texas heat in a 5E3 build that I gave to s...

If you're looking for preamps in pedal form I'll throw this in if only for completeness sake : https://www.effectrode.com/products/effects-pedals/blackbird-vacuum-tube-preamp/ It's currently my favorite tied with the Sarno V8. This one has a few more tones on tap w/ more flexible eq and distortion a...

Some guy on the internet named Leo Gibson has a video measuring the latency of this device. He came up with latency of 3 milliseconds. According to him this is excellent but not best in class.

Greg, great review. I'm not clear on whether you tried the pedal as a preamp to a class d power amp (I assume the quilter gives you this in its FRFR mode) with IRs turned off. If you did, does that set up give you a good "amp in a room" feel and sound? Ie. Is it plausible replacement for a...

Drybell compressor

An interesting new addition to the high-end pedal compressor market. They bothered to add steel to their demo video so I figured I'll post it (steel player at the end of video): https://youtu.be/Wy5NkNaMz48 The company is interesting. Their products appear to be superior. Anybody give this one a try?

not sure I understand the question, but I use the dimension mode in a boss MD500 with button 1 or 2 depressed. it's subtle but beautiful. buttons 3 and 4 are a more pronounced effect. it's especially striking in stereo if you have that set up.
