It seems like everyone plays Weissenborn in open D. I love it, but it may be over used.
Are there players that use other tunings?

Jerry douglas strat lap steel
Back, long ago, when there was TNN and a show called American music shop, Jerry Douglas would play a small bodied strat lap steel. It may have even been built by Joe Glaser. I remember it having figured maple. Does anyone have a pic? I've searched for one, but no luck. Even scoured youtube. A pic an...

$1k Mavericks?
Are the prices I'm seeing on eBay and Reverb for real? I've been out of the steel guitar for about 5 years. They were like $400-700 at that time.
Am I missing something?

Does the pedal steel guitar world need more builders?
That is the question.I've been away from the forum for 5 years.
It seems as if there aren't as many builders as there one was.
Time for opportunity or no money in it?
Thx
Nick Anderson

Peavey powerslide bridge question
I have seen powerslides with a compensated angle at the bridge and some that have a straight across bridge. Logic tells me that with a lap/raised string instrument, the saddles should be straight across. Looking for input on if the compensated saddle plays with the intonation enough to tell. Of cour...

MSA semi classic changer complete
http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1504/1510_msa_1.jpg I have an MSA Semi Classic that was a project from years ago. In a crazy mod idea, I was switching it to a non pedal steel. I sold the changer on ebay many years ago. Fastforward, I'm toying with the idea of switching it back and need a chan...

Here is the undercarriage . . . http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1205/1510_undercarriage_1.jpg It was primed, sprayed with drywall texture, then painted black with an ordinary interior latex. The foam quiets the cables. I agree with the point of view that I will not get much on resale, it's vin...

restored 1963 Fender 400 Steel Guitar
Here is my restored Fender 400 steel. It was labeled under the body as a 1963. I got it with no pedals, pedalboard or under carriage hardware. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1205/1510_DCP_0558_1.jpg I stripped the lacquer, had the chrome re-plated and had the metal frame powdercoated. http://...

How to make modern lexan fretboards.
Can anyone enlighten me on how lexan fretboards are made? Is the art work for the fretboard glued to clear lexan, or it it printed on the lexan?
Fretboards like Carters and all the modern steels have.
Thanks

Songs utilizing A-B-C pedals only
In the past month, I have started back with the steel guitar, E9th tuning. Right know, I only have a Fender 400 8 stringer. I have A, B and C pedals, with the forth lowering the "E's." I'm practicing some early Mooney stuff, since the Fender 400 fits that pretty good. "Under Your Spel...

Does anyone on the forum use them for Steel?
I recently purchased a used Hot Wired pedal and a new Tape Echo for regular guitar.
Just wondering.
