I've seen a lot of chatter recently on the forum with folks using Kemper's. Just wondering if any others that haven't chimed in here are using Tonex now? How is it working for them? What profiles are they using for steel? Etc...

I am now quite a few gigs into using the Tonex on most of my gigs and I have to say, I am very happy with it. I have some amp models/profiles from Joe Rogers, he is a forum member, that really work for me. If any of you are looking for steel amp models, you may want to hit Joe up and see what he can...

Mike Bourque is probably one of the best examples

You can find lots of him playing on AJ's Goodtime Bar YouTube channel.

Re: Tonex modern profiles

The TONEX looks a good unit, but are there any high quality modern amplifier profiles which can be purchased ? I am thinking the likes of Milkman, Little Walter 89, Quilter etc, not vintage amps like fender twin reverb. It would seem that making your own high quality profiles is not that easy, and ...

My specific goal for the sess 400 is to put it on my pedalboard and go ampless for the casino gigs that have their own sound engineer and we all use IEM's anyway. I tried the UA Dream65 for that purpose and didn't care for it. Going ampless is new to me and I'm sure it will take some getting used to...

Boo, my whole band uses the Dream 65 for fly dates. I use one channel for steel and the other for Tele. Then we just get our sounds back in our wedges or IEMs. It saves on transporting amps and makes us more affordable to hire cuz it reduces the venues' backline rental costs. Our lead guitarist is ...

Hi Marty! :D Joe is still using his or was when I saw/talked to him in March although he doesn't use it for fly gigs, he was using something similar but smaller. Joe is a super great guy, I enjoyed meeting and talking to him and I'm sure he would answer any questions anyone had on the Quad Cortex. A...

Dave, I don't think you will be able to answer that question until you know what kind of dancers are following you. Are they a 2 step crowd? Are they doing partner pattern dances, cha cha, el paso, horseshoe, schottishe? Are they swing dancers, either east or west coast or both? Or are they line dan...

I definitely think it is doable for anyone that wants to use a backline instrument or theirs doesn't arrive, or whatever else could happen. As a matter of fact, Mike Bourque talks about being able to play a different setup, different steel, etc, here in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8c...

I found a mach3 head and combo in stock at a local music store. I took my steel over and tried it out, both the 12 inch combo and the head through a 15-inch cabinet that was on the floor. I didn't care for either combination for my taste, so I guess I will keep lugging my heavy amp for now. If I did...

Colored vs uncolored probably wasn't what Jack was actually getting at. He was just stating that some of the new amps have a very different frequency response range than amps of earlier vintage and using low capacitance cables in the chain to the newer amps provides a very brittle and harsh high end...

Yea, Pat Quilter responded to me and gave me his opinion on how best to do what I am looking to do! That is pretty awesome if you ask me, the man himself taking time to answer a question and provide some guidance.

I’ve got the head version, and it’s positively brilliant, top channel set for 6 string bottom set for steel. One caveat: when using the amp in dual channel mode, the available power for each side drops to 100 watts, to facilitate the preamp producing 100 watts each. Ken, What cabinet and speaker si...

Doug,
Thanks for doing that test/comparison and providing the report that you did. I really want to go more lightweight but it sounds like I will keep dragging around the Vegas 400 or the twin for now. There will come a day when I'm forced to lighten the load but I'm not there yet.
