Although the Warren Smith Liberty LP hasn't been re-issued as such, it is included in its entirety on the Bear Family CD "Call of the Wild" BCD 15495 which also includes some Liberty 45's that didn't make the LP

Wynn Stewart

Received the Wynn Stewart box set today. Bear Family did a great job. 279 tracks (10 CD's). 50 page booklet starts off with interview with Merle Haggard, great pix (including one of Mooney with a built on ash tray on the Fender).

Factoid: That was Don Rich playing fiddle on those Tony Booth LP's in the early 70's. Jay Dee on steel of course.

Jimmy Y,
Unfortunately Bozo Darnell passed away a couple of years ago. I exchanged a couple of emails with his son, Reuben, back in October. He has some interesting stories to tell about his dad & Wynn. If you want the son's email address let me know. He is a singer & has a CD out I think.

"Something Pretty" is one of the better albums Wynn did on Capitol. It was the fourth one (1968) out of ten. If you see his first Capitol LP at a flea market, "Songs of Wynn Stewart" (1965), you should buy it. Mooney on all tracks.

Tommy Collins was one of the early pioneers of the Bakersfield/west coast sound. He will be greatly missed. This is an article from about 3 years ago.

Stringbean

The A & E cable channel's 'City Confidential' series has a show on tonight about the death of Stringbean Akeman if anyone was ever curious about the details of his murder. I think that the show will be rerun later tonigt also.

Lily Dale

Darrell McCall has a new CD, the just released "Lily Dale". I assume (but not sure) that it is a re-release of the 1977 critically acclaimed Columbia LP. If it is, it is one of Darrell's & Buddy Emmon's better efforts. Buddy also co-produced the record w/Darrell and of course Willie s...
