All good, Donny. Just finished tuning up, all pedals working as they should and much easier to press.
I'll tube the levers tomorrow and I don't anticipate any problems.
Thanks again for your patient assistance, SGF to the rescue as always!

Saturday morning update... I upturned the guitar to work on the over-long Allen bolt, then I noticed that all the overtuned fingers had slipped back into the correct position over night. Could it be that they were just stuck in their previous positions from long-term lack of movement, and once I loo...

Donny, I see and understand exactly what you're saying, but I can't work out how to make those overtuned fingers settle back to where they should be.... advice urgently appreciated!

Excellent progress this evening (up to a point!) I'll followed all instructions, basically loosened everything and started from scratch. All was going well and I knew that success was in sight. Then that strange clunk noise happened on the A pedal, the noise that started this whole over-tuning probl...

John, thanks but the string ball-ends are ok....pic attached by the way of my paternal grandfather in Sydney circa 1933!(he was actually Joseph, not John) Bobby/Donny...this is amazing stuff. I'm re-fuelled with enthusiasm and am looking forward to fixing the tuning over the weekend. I've found the ...

What happened?

I'm loving my recently acquired six-string PSG but a surprise problem has me totally head-wrecked. Everything was fine until yesterday.I turned the guitar upside down on the bench to fit a small spring on one of the levers. It was sloppy and the rods kept falling out of their slots. While I was chec...

Benders on a C6 eight string lap-steel.

I'm currently playing E6 tuning on a six string lap-steel steel, using string benders to raise the G# and top B to mimic the A and B PSG pedals.
I have an eight string Goldtone lap-steel tuned C6...which string bender raises would give me similar results in C6 tuning?

Thanks Jim. Did you drill into the bridge plate or the body?(I haven't got the guitar yet, it's on it's way shortly). I didn't want to buy a Certano until I knew it could be fitted without problems. Any pics?

I think I just worked it out...you say 'lowering the second string a half to e to D' means the second string is D#, so it must be the lower eight strings you're talking about?

Just checking, are we talking the top or bottom eight of the ten strings?

My eight-string PSG is coming home!

After a few years of seller's remorse, I've finally tracked down the Guyatone eight string PSG I sold a few years ago. The buyer has agreed to a buy-back, happy days. I can't fully recall the tuning and copedent I had settled on, I think it was the top eight of E9TH, there's three pedals and one kne...

So when my knee moves the lever, the cable will pull the changer finger which will lower the pitch of the string? That's the bit that was puzzling me, the finger next to each lowering finger will raise the string, so I couldn't work out how a seemingly identical finger (albeit with a spring attached...

How do they work?

I posted this in Builders' Corner but I'm thinking it might get more views here?..... I'm renovating an old Fender 400, all is going well so far. I've just worked out the way all the cables operate (really straightforward!) My question is, how does the lowering set-up work? I've two newly built knee...
