How do I tune a split?

Post by b0b »

How do you tune a split, on a changer that has split tuning screws? For example, a lever lowering the 6th string to F#, split with the pedal that raises the string to A. Result is an in tune G note.

There's an animation a few replies down that should 'splain it. Hope this is what you are asking about.

B0b... tune the whole tone lower with the allen screw at the split tuner bar, then engage pedal and tune the split with the nylon tuner that lowers that string. Unless your guitar wasn't setup properly to begin with or it has somehow gotten out of adjustment, this should do the trick.

Tune open. Tune the raise with the nylon. Tune the lower with the nylon. Tune the split with the same nylon for the lower you just tuned. Retune the lower with the screw, if necessary. That should do it, b0b. :D
My best,
Ernie

One of the most practical ideas to come along for PSG in a while! I wouldn't want a PSG without them. It also eliminates the necessity of using up all the holes in the changer, which could be used for other changes!

B0b,

I found one of Mickey Adams' Youtube videos "Tuning Your Split Changer" the I think will answer your question about tuning that split.

I needed to know for a student. My own guitars don't have tunable splits. Thanks again, everyone.
