Kevin Clemons -- Branson West. As close to "E" as you'll hear. DeVere Adamson and I can't hear as fast as he can play. !!

James O'Rafferty AKA J.G. O'Rafferty, one of the cleanest and fastest players I ever heard. Also a great vocalist who sometimes didn't get work because he sang better than the lead vocalist...........JH in Va.

Hard to say where the qualifying level of (non)recognition lies, but I'll second Vance Terry and Don West. And add:

I'm new to steel guitar, about a year and a half, but i've listened to a lot of it over the years and especially since i'm trying to learn to play the steel. Jerry Van Hoose is about as good a steel player as I have heard, and a pleasure to talk to, and willing to assist in any way he can. He's got my vote.

Mike McGee would be my choice. His musical knowledge and natural abilities would carry him anywhere he wanted to be musically. I have heard him in a musical play in Springfield, Mo. and several Steel Guitar shows and I am amazed every time.

Bob Hempker. He a great player and an even better person. He is definately one of the unsung heros of the instrument. Anyone who's heard him, has heard the steel the way it's supposed to be played.

Dave Forehand

Dr. Rickles... Dave Forehand aka Dave Knight is my mentor. I met him in the service in Hawaii in 1962. Great player and teacher. He lives in Clinton, Missouri, about 2 miles from me and I see him every few days. We swap licks and commiserate about the old days. Just FYI Funny thing, his C-6 pedal set up is backwards to everyone else. His pedals from left to right are 76548. Works for him, drives me nuts

Jim Bob. I sod Dave a Fender 1000 in Hawaii. I know him well. He also worked with Jimmy Jenson from Minn. You are right, he is awsome. Tell him hello for me.
