A little known Dick Curless b-side. "Drop Some Silver in The Jukebox". It was never on an album, but it is included in one of his Bear Family Boxsets.

Lady Be Good, and Nuages.
Two tempos, two great melodies.
You should sound sweet n swinging on both.

How about a couple of Johnny Cox originals, featuring the kinds of melodies, rhythms and chord changes that you enjoy playing the most? I'd rather hear a good original instrumental than an instrumental "cover" of any popular vocal song.

Herb Remington writes. Buddy Emmons writes. Bobbe Seymour writes. What would Johnny Cox write? That's what I'd like to hear.

Johnny, I've always wanted to hear you do "Long Black Limousine" - kind of as a tribute to Curly.

I loved some of the covers you recorded on the Eric Clapton tribute. Maybe another one?

I second Walter's and b0b's suggestions. Songs that have not been done as instrumentals before, and new material that you wrote.

Include one swing tune just to mix it up, something like "My Mother's Eyes" that Jim Murphy, amongst others, did. If there's singing, either a slow ballad like Paycheck's "Florence Jean" or uptempo like "You're Still On My Mind.

Hey Johnny, if you write a song, you can call it My Sweet Angel, and nobody will know whether you're talking about Joan or your guitar.

Johnny, I've been spinnin' yer CD in my player. Thanks for the wonderful music.

"Just One Time" by Don Gibson... (the original, not what's playing on the Internet Jukeboxes today...)
Ray Price's "Just Call Me Lonesome", and keep true to Big E's part but embellish the rest....
"Heart be Careful" by Billy Walker...
"Lovin in Vain" by Patsy Cline (may take two steels...)
"Just out of Reach" by Patsy Cline.
"There won't be anymore" by Charlie Rich.

They are what I'd love to play well...They are what I practice to.... (oops, dangling particple, shoot me...

Hi Johnny. I sure am glad you are a lot younger than I am as it will take you years to fulfill all the requeats. I know that whatever you record will be "top shelf". Hope to see ya'll in Dallas. Love ya'll, Jody..

Johnny, "Heartaches By The Number",
"Charlie's Shoes" as a tribute to Billy Walker, " Tired Of Livin' This A Way", (Webb's catchy tune), and Red Foley's rendition of "How's The World Treating You?" Thanks ....

I would suggest the beautiful Cindy Walker song "Ruidoso" as an instrumental & Stoney Edwards shuffle "I bought the shoes that just walked out on me" with Justin on vocals.
Your last CD "Life after Nashville" is one of my favourites so keep them coming.

Johnny, I think Dean Park's idea of Homeward Bound by Simon & Garfunkel is a really good one!

How about "Take a cold tater'and wait"? Just kidding. You probably know more songs than all of us put together. Pick something we aren't totally burned out on,or better yet write some new ones. I enjoy what you've done in the past and I'm sure the next cd will be great as well. Good luck.

Johnny-I know that you said this will be a "traditional country" CD-But perhaps since you are now living down in Texas you could give us a dose of some good ol' Texas Swing?
