Harlin Bros Multi-Kord cable-to-rod conversion

Post by Tom Likely »

Hi, all -

Apologies if this has been answered before but dang if I can find anything on it.

Is there someone out there who has or can fabricate a conversion to rods instead of cables for a 6-string Harlin Brothers Multi-Kord?

Any info is much appreciated!

Back in the late 50's I had a double 8 Multi-Chord. I took the cables off and made some rods out of coat hangers. It was crude but it worked.

I did a proper upgrade. Drill holes in the side of the pedals (gave myself a couple of different options for different amounts of pedal travel) drilled holes in the bottoms of the changer arms and put in #8 eyebolts, and attached them to 1/8" threaded rod with one of these:

The other end of the rods have these:

You have to increase the pedal spacing to fit the right angle variety, but I think you can buy inline versions from PSG supply places, that could thread into the tops of the pedals.
