I need to reduce the slack/change the action on my GFI pedals. Can anyone explain how to change the position of the pull rod at the pull bar and/or the changer fingers? |

Have a look at this page: http://www.gfimusicalproducts.com/annotatedphotos.html#txt_375
Does it look familiar?
The basic procedure for moving a pull-rod on a GFI:
You need the right hex/allen key for the black screws in the brass ferrules.
The first time you do it you will also need plenty of time and patience - slowly and carefully does it, and you should make note of where the rod is now before moving it to a new position.
- Loosen the screw for the rod you want to move around - half a turn is usually enough.
- Pull the rod out of the ferrule so it can be moved to another hole, and all the way out through the changer-end if you want to move the rod to another hole on the changer-finger.
- Move the ferrule to another hole.
- Put the pull-rod back in through ferrule, and check that the nylon-nut on the rod is close to but does not actually touch the changer-finger.
- Tighten screw in ferrule to hold the rod - tight enough but don't overtighten it.
Check that you have gotten the change about right.
You will of course have to tune the pull on the nylon-nut, but if it is too far off after you have moved the rod you probably have not chosed the right hole for the rod on the bell-cranks and/or the changer finger. |

Wow. Maybe I'll just surgically lengthen my left leg . . . |

Don't worry Mitchell ... a GFI is the easiest steel ever made to make changes on, IMO.
I have moved around just about everything that can be moved around inside on mine, and added some parts too |

It looks dead easy.
Loosen screw, slide out rod (that's clever, having the rod hold the puller in), pop the puller out, move it to the new hole, slide the rod back in, tighten screw. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects |

Too easy! No hole change. All that was needed was to (1) loosen ferrule screw (2) take up some slack in the rod (3) re-tighten and that was it.
Thanks guys,
Mitch |
