Has anyone tried this unit with steel guitar. Apparently it learns the tune and then it will play bass and drums automatically. Wonder if it works with steel guitar. NM

...based on the demos I saw I don't see why not. They just chorded the song in pretty much the tempo they wanted, and then away it went. Might be interesting to try out and see how it works. I have an open mind on it anyway.

My 2 cents, YMMV.

I have been looking at them and I see no reason why it shouldn't.
All you have to do is play the chords and set the rhythm and it will play along with you.
They were introduced at NAMM 2015 and I haven't found any available yet around here to demo.
The only place I have seen them is at Musician's Friend and they aren't available until late next month.
It looks like it would be fun especially for someone like me who has no one to play with.

Nigel, just because you think you're old don't mean you are. Go get you one of those things and pick away. You'll have a grand ole time! Very Happy Laughing

...and let me know how much fun you're having so I can go get one....lol...

I can't wait to try one at a local music store!
Most of my songs would use the Country or Swing setting.

Just play through the progression once and hit the switch to have the bass and drums join in!

Could you use this for making tracks?... Drums are the hardest thing for me to get a grip on.

there is a "jack" out for a recorder .... so adding bass & drum lines is a go ..... plus you can turn the volume up on bass & drums too {just like in real life} Laughing

Might be an easy way for me to add drums to tracks I want to make, especially since I don’t really think drums, and this thing looks like it thinks drums already...maybe easier to learn than to try and map out drums in garageband, which don’t seem to be country or gospel loops in there anyhow... less steep learning curve perhaps and that would be fun.

As an added note, Musician's Friend just moved the availability date for the Trio to the end of May.
My local music store also said they are at least 2 to 3 months out in getting any.
I put one on hold at the store. I think they are going to be hard to find for a while.
