I have seen Henry play with Chet many times. What a great bass player and a super guy. This is a very tragic loss. My sympathy to all of Henry's family.

Here's Henry with the original version of the song, with his group "The Four Flickers":

So sad to hear. I have enjoyed his FaceBook page and his consarvitive views and had been considering linking as a FB friend. I too was not ready to lose a fine musician, whom I admired.

Henry was one of my favorite bassists. A cool guy and just an awesome player. So many hit records he played on. I'm very sorry to hear this sad news of his passing.

My deepest sympathies and prayers go out for Henry and his family.

I was present at that show as an audience member, it was a great band and performance. :D Of course, I sat at stage right, where Buddy and Russ were. Henry was on stage left and Charlie was up front.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Henry was also in the Hee Haw staff band for most of the run. For the first three years of my run I was 'utility' man, subbing for whoever had sessions during the tapeings. I remember that I was on bass most of those three years....Henry was a very busy man, and we'll all miss him very much.

I remember Henry from his Europe tour with Jim Reeves, Bobby Bare, Chet Atkins and the Anita Kerr Singers.
Here he is harmonizing with Jim in Norway, April 1964

Look around and you'll find most of the rest of the Norway segnment of this historical tour
Rest in Peace, Henry

Played and recorded with him back in the 70's, what a gentleman... All of the A-Team by then had nicknamed him "The South Pole". RIP Henry
